Oh well, since my E55 is 17 years old, I bit the bullet and had the conversion done. I replaced the front air shocks two years ago and they already needed replacement. Who knows what else will fail next. Little did I know that the conversion install labor cost would be $1500! That's nuts. At least I will have peace of mind knowing I won't be stranded somewhere. Nearly $3000 with parts and labor. Whoa! I don't see much of a difference with the ride. I always kept my air suspension on the lowest setting which seems about the same after this conversion.

What mde you think the front air shocks needed to be replaced again? Those two year old shocks - were they MB parts or an aftermarket? Good luck with the conversion.
What coils and springs did you get installed? I installed H&R Monotube coilovers on mine last year and have 0 regrets. Parts alone were around 2000€ and I installed it myself.
