E55 Oil and Coolant Mix Fix
My heart sank when I saw the chocolate milkshake in the oil cap and blackening and reducing coolant.
Thankfully Tasos is in the region where I am so took it straight to him and so glad I did as it avoided a lot of unnecessary pain given the job was a big one to start with.
Pro top #1 is to check the o rings on the timing cover before going to the head gasket. Thankfully that was the issue here (and one that is common on the M113 / M113k), so avoided opening the head.
Car has since been fine with no major problems and no oil coolant mixing since then!
Not to mention replacing silicon o rings from critical parts of the engine e.g at oil pickup tube while in there which makes it more future proof!
