In-Tank fuel hose sizes and fittings?

2003 E55 AMG-
Going through my fuel system on my new E55 and found that both my pump and sending unit were bad as the car sat for 5 years with old gas in the tank. As I was removing the old pump and sending unit, the fuel hoses were so brittle they just began to disintegrate within the tank itself.
Here's the problem. The new pump I ordered is not compatible with the old fuel hose connectors. The existing fuel hoses that connect the pump to the fuel sending unit have male connectors, whereas the new design change require female connectors. The lightly used fuel sending unit I acquired was missing the Y connector and two long hoses that connect the sending unit to the fuel pump. I can't re-use old connectors from my old fuel sending unit hoses because they are male and won't fit.

That being said, I am not trying to buy a $550 sending unit from Mercedes to just replace the two long hoses a Y connector.
what is the diameter of the fuel hoses that lead into the Y connector from the fuel pump?
is there a way to source the female connectors to accommodate the newer fuel pump?

thanks

There are three versions of the fuel filter/regulator and two versions of the fuel pumps. The third-generation fuel filter/regulator is only compatible with the second-generation fuel pumps. And each will need an adapter cable. Discussed in detail in the following link; part numbers in post #29. Read it all. You own an E55 AMG. Plan on $1000 every 60K miles to replace the fuel filter/regulator, fuel pumps, and sealing rings. FWIW, plan on replacing/repairing the pumps' relay, socket, and wiring as well.

Yes, I have read both of those threads- really good write up on the electrics. I DO have a new pump and a like-new sending unit (i'm replacing the filter inside). I have already purchased the two adapters from Mercedes- one for the fuel pump and one for the sender. The problem isn't that- it's that I'm missing the two fuel hoses that go into the pump and meet in a Y connection leading into the sending unit.

Do you happen to know the diameter of the two hoses that connect the pump to the sending unit and meet in a Y? the ones with the quick- connect fitting. And do you know the size of that fitting/if I can buy it separately? I am making my own fuel hoses but just need to know diameter. Everything else is intact.

Does anyone know if this will fit a 2004 E555, VRP customer service doesn't seem to know much . Sorry to go abit off topic. Regarding your hoses could you not obtain some universal ones from a fuel pump supplier like walbro etc ?
