Grinding squeak noise front suspension
CLS55 with 123k miles. Noise only happens when driving <10mph and when going over a speed bump/pothole that makes car rock sideways. Replaced lower control arms & tie rod ends 5 months ago and also greased sway bar bushings last week. Last winter it was a dull creak, now sounds like I'm equipped with cut rusty springs in the front, like an old mattress noise. When freeway driving - no noise. Its seemingly isolated to driver's side front. All ball joints that haven't been replaced yet look fine with no cracks. Once or twice after getting out of the car I hear the noise for a brief moment, but the struts air up and down with no noise (just the usual faint hiss). Any possible culprits other than maybe strut(s)?

i had similar issues with my 07 e63 wagon. I had this work done and it took care of all the creaking and other random suspension sounds I would get at low speeds.

I had a similar issue with a 2015 E400. Try disconnecting the anti-sway bar links (one at a time, just for grins) and see if either one being disconnected resolves the noise. In my case, it was the removal of the driver's side link that shut the darned thing up. Unfortunately, my noise started when car was brand new, and it took two dealers and 5 1/2 years to find the cause of the noise. It was fixed under warranty, at least, and now is quiet.
With the W212, the only downside of this being the issue is that the bushings are not replaceable, nor are they available. You need to replace the entire bar, which comes with bushings attached. Oh, and on a 4Matic, you need to lift the engine up off the mounts to get the bar out. A lousy job, but the result is well worth it. (IIRC, if mine was not warrantied, it would have cost about $1,200 to have dealer replace the bar. Indy would have been cheaper on labor, maybe less so on parts.)

Man, at least it was found in the end, especially under warranty. The CLS is RWD and I poked around the sway bar this morning & it seems not too complicated to remove it (probably is). Do you mean to say the culprit were the links? Or the big sway bar that goes perpendicular to the length of vehicle? Im ok with replacing all of it either way
I got it repaired under warranty because I had the MB ELW. I doubt that they would have done the work as warranty on the original OEM warranty, as that had expired some 18 months prior to the repair. I guess I could have opened a case to plead for warranty coverage due to there being so many open repair tickets under the factory warranty, but the ELW made that a moot point.

So after replacing basically my entire front suspension, all the control arms, ball joints and bushings, I found the culprit. I was still getting a knocking noise as I turned the steering wheel from right to left at parking lot speeds. I found the noise to be coming from the struts themselves. As I turn the wheels I can actually feel and visibly see the lower portion of the front struts make a knock noise from inside. I have no idea what went bad inside of them but I just ordered a new set. Hopefully after this my car is noise free. 🙄
