What's up with my 05 COMAND?
Is this thing really this bad? Just sat in my car with the owner's manual for an hour. It didnt recognize my own street or many others for that matter, nor known addresses that I tried to enter. It only listed like maybe 2% of the streets in my town; on the map zoomed all the way in, only major roads were displayed (no sidestreets). Nothing like my wife's Lexus RX330 which has every single street displayed.
If I'm not mistaken by my preliminary experience, this system for navigation is essentially useless.
BTW I did check to see if the DVD was loaded and it was.
Help!

yesterday, I got a ride home from a chrysler dealer (jeep thing) in a chrysler minivan and I could enter my entire address!! I had heard that at some point MB was going to have new software and fix the closest intersection crap. Even my little handheld gps does better.
PS - MB did install the new 'box' in my E55 that finally got rid of the phone echo problem.

However, the Mercedes system can flag a house within a block destination. I notice even with COMAND 2.0 that if I ask for House #25 and all it knows is 11-33 on the numbers range that it still knows where 25 is with the flag on the map.

The Navi detail on the '04 S-class they gave me while we are still disputing the recent lot jockey damage my car sustained is excellent - lots of detail on side streets, etc. Even then, the Navi detail & info on my wife's former '04 Lexus LS430 blew the S-Class display in the ditch.
I wonder if it is the DVD at fault or some revision to the '05 COMAND system - or my newbie user ineptitude at defining the best display parameters? If the former, I'm thinking seriously of swapping DVD's to an earlier, more accurate version.

99 Corvette, 04 BMW M3 (Wife's car), 04 Mercedes E55.
I had Navigation in the Lincoln I just sold and found the same problems... that's why I didn't order it in my E55.

Eagle...I feel your pain on the Navigational system... Mine does the same thing. It's not the hardware, it's the nav dvd. My disk is labeled 2004.2 and as of about three months ago, it was the most current. I called Navman, the company who makes the disks and they said next years update should be more complete. Should arrive next Spring, I told my dealership they're paying for the new update.
