MY NEW TO ME E55 AMG! AND THE PROBLEMS ON DAY 5 OF OWNERSHIP
Hello. I recently got my e55 and i love it however there are some issues im facing.
The person i got my car from had straight piped it, 14 feet of complete ss straight pipe (picture attached) however then he added the stock cats to quiet it down a little. When i pulled the car with the cats on it, it smelled very rich so what i did was pulled them out and straight piped it again. The smell was not as bad however it did not fix the problem (because im stupid). Now i feel like its wayy too loud and am considering putting them back on again. Is that setup okay?
Secondly, when the car starts and gets to the normal idling temperature it ride’s really nice with lots of torque and acceleration but after 2-4 not very hard pulls it just doesn’t want to produce as much torque anymore. It doesn’t even feel like a N/A V8 at that point. I did my research and figured it must be the intercooler pump. Do i change the intercooler pump and the heat exchanger or will the pump be enough?
I swapped my air suspension for the stock strut and spring setup after my front left airmatic gave up a week ago. Ill be programming the new non airmatic suspension in 2 days after i get the back suspension done as well. I feel like its nicer and not as stiff as coilovers as the roads in my country aren’t that great.

Exhaust is all personal preference, I only have center resonator delete on my CLS55 and it sounds how I want it. Also the police is cracking down more and more on loud exhaust cars here in the Netherlands.
Your car looks pretty good. If the exhaust and air suspension are your only issues, then you are in good shape.
Exhausts on any car are difficult to get "right" and very, very easy to mess up. I would try to find a stock exhaust and save yourself some headache. A straight-piped V8 is, "a great place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there."

I (and your neighbors) highly recommend that you get mufflers. Don't be "that guy".
You ever notice how when people on forums or YouTube start messing with their exhaust for "that perfect sound" that they keep messing with it? It's because it's very difficult to get right and very easy to screw up. And at the end, they have a hacked up exhaust system.
The stock exhaust is "meaty" and lets people know that you have a V8. It's not as loud as modern V8s and especially modern AMG V8s, but it's pretty good.
If you really want the best of both worlds, maybe make a stock system with remote controlled valves to open up when you want to show off? I've considered that as well. This is a common mod, too.

@CQHall I totally agree with you that the stock exhaust is good already. I only have the center resonator delete and I think its the best of both worlds now. when coasting its nice & quiet and when you floor it you get the nice rumble. But I can also understand that people want a (little bit) more exhaust note
@muddy51 if you want to have it a little bit more loud than stock, then try to source some original mufflers (or W204 C63 mufflers) or some good stainless aftermarket ones. This is how mine sounds at the moment
