Can anyone confirm this for me? Staggered or square setup?

I just bought a 2006 E500 4matic AMG Sport and it currently has 245/40/18 all the way around but as I research the car (there’s very limited info in the 4matic Amg sport package) I am seeing 245/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear.

can anyone confirm? Here’s the vin too… thanks!

ps I don’t have the car with me and I’m out of town about to purchase tires which is why I’m asking.

The AMG cars came staggered so yes, you can stagger the wheels.

You can't use staggered wheels on a W211 4Matic.

@UncleBenz55 seems to be on point, but if you still need some verification, provide your VIN and I will provide you with the Data Card for your car which will tell you all the options when it was built.

Of course you can as long as the tire OD is identical on all 4 tires.

That document is off the official mb website on which tire and wheel combinations mb has approved. They specifically say you can't use 245/40 R18 and 265/35 R18 on E500 4 Matic models 🤷 The diameter difference is 1.63% between those two sizes, so maybe that's enough to damage the 4 matic.

Maybe. The OP can step up to a 275/35/18. That tire is 25.6" tall. The 245/40/18 is 25.7" tall. Nominal difference.
