Best Way to Remove the AMG Engine Plaque / Badge

I am getting ready to rebuild and powdercoat a M113K supercharger. I'd like to remove the builder tag from it, and preserve it. I've never removed one. Anyone have a known good method for getting it off without bending or otherwise destroying it?

Use heavy fishing line. That way it shouldn’t cut into anything and ruin something.
I use it to remove body emblems without damage.

I totally agree, fishline is the best for removing anything bonded with 3M adhesive tape.

Agreed on fishing line - I'd also recommend some WD40 to help lift the years and years of adhesive.

Thanks, guys! I wasn't sure what they used to adhere the plaque to the supercharger.

Use this to remove the adhesive from the 2 sided tape.

Why would OP pay that much $?

WD40 is just fine for a fraction of the cost.

That was for a case. Fixed the link.

It’s not cheap even for a quart though. I’ve always used it in the collision shop removing tape and adhesive. Never wanted a greasy product like WD on any panels we were prepping for paint.

Edit: better yet spray can of it!
