anyone know where to find replacement air springs for front struts?

I can't seem to find any actual replacement air springs for the front struts to rebuild my front strut assemblies. I found some on ebay, but they mention they are for w211/w219 except e55/cls55. I cant imagine anything changed on them? I was thinking about doing coilovers, but frankly I would rather just rebuild these. I'm not paying stupid amounts for arnott when all thats wrong with the worthless design is a rubber bag.

I'm new to the E55 game and have always read that the Arnotts are a cheap alternative with a lifetime warranty compared to oem ones. Have you priced them yet?

Its simply because it doesnt really make any sense to just replace the bag on these. Usually by the time the bag goes the shock is well worn too.

I did just the bags on a w164 ml63 I was selling on and could see the shock beginning to leak oil very slightly once I got the bag off. If I was keeping the car I would of certainly done the entire shock and in the future I just wouldnt even bother with just a bag replacement unless the car has done crazy low miles.

The Arnotts are cheap for what they are imo. I have had a set on my car for over 8 years with no issues whatsoever.

The only place I seen the bags commonly was aliexpress but these arent like the w164's where its a simple job to replace you need to remove the crimp rings and install new ones.

IMO the Arnotts are worth it if it was just a normal w211 and not an e55 or e63 I would get where your coming from. Makes no sense to me to just do the bags on these.

This place is a joke.
You don't have the proper tooling to crimp them. If you think Arnotts are expensive then you shouldn't own a 20 year old AMG and expect cheap maintenance costs.

Better replace the strut mount as well. That’s the front end clunk everyone spends hours and throws money at trying to fix it.

If you really want to save money, buy some coilovers and call it a day. At 70,000 miles all that stuff is worn out, so if you have more miles than that it needs attention.

Figured I'd update. It's an easy job and the struts were still in good condition. These do work
https://www.ebay.com/itm/204207077952

you need to take a pipe wrench or large channel locks, spin the valve body on the top of the strut about .75" counter clockwise to unlock the cam on the valve on the top then start prying the thing up with some flat heads. It will stop when you have spun it as far as you can.You could use a vise or something as well to work it out.

After that, you will want something like a 3/8 impact or impact bit drivers. hold the extension and use a 13mm socket. you need to let the impact actually cycle instead of spin so you get the shocking motion. this will knock the nut off the top of the strut. pull the junk off. replace with new o ring, washer and o ring. dab some loctite on the nut and reverse assembly. stupid easy.

Typical mercedes forum people will hate and tell you you're too cheap, you shouldn't own an amg blah blah blah. Here is a actual useful followup post for someone looking not to waste a ton of money on terrible suspension. I just needed it back on the road again quick. shipping was quick on the ebay seller as well. I think I had it in 3 days which was surprising.

oh and you will want a 8 dollar pair of ear clamp pliers off amazon to install the new clamps.
