722.6 how much fluid for trans drain plug drain and refill.

I have a few 722.6 transmissions and have always done regular drain plug draining and refilling what I took out. I would let it drain until it started to come out slowly( minute or so) and put the plug back in.

I would always get out about 3 to 3.5 quarts or so, and put exactly what I took out in.

I have a couple of the aftermarket dipstick tools and started to check the levels and they are way too high acoording to the tools. The C55 I just bought came with one of the tools that the previous owner changed the fluid and checked it with this tool. I bought the car with him thinking the engine timing chain was making noise, but it was the transmission pump that had spun the pump bushing on the converter.

When I drained the fluid from the trans it only had about 2 quarts in it and it is what the level should be with the aftermarket dipstick. I don’t think that’s enough and pretty sure that’s what caused the pump to run dry.
How much do you change when changing just the pan with the drain plug with a couple minute drain? I heard leaving the plug out overnight will drain quite a bit more I really dont trust these aftermarket dipsticks, and I think they may be not stopping with the plastic stop on them.

I am going to buy a factory tool, that will probably be a better idea, since I have 6 cars with these transmissions. Where is the best place to buy the factory Mercedes tool?

Check this, the same goes for the 722.6. I would advice to at least drop the pan (and clean it) and change the filter every time you service it.

I vaguely remember when I dropped the pan & valve body, I extracted about 6.5 liters (about 6.8 quarts). If you want to get everything out, you need to blow out the transmission cooler etc. I believe this is the tool for the job:
