Don't Jump On the M5 Bandwagon Just Yet...
Hey you E55 owners who keep hearing about the new M5, that won't come out for at least another year or so. I came across an article that some of you may have read and it's a reminder of what is to come - so don't lose faith...

I like both MB and BMW cars but I've been reading how a lot of people are trying to speculate if the M5 is better than the E55 - and maybe it is. ? So while waiting for this super M5 to come out, why not simply wait a little longer or around the same amount of time for the the E65?
What will the M5 guys say about this? I can't wait for that time! The speed wars continue!

I somewhat agree with you, but I think two things will make it difficult for MB:
1) Handling - I think that BMW is the better handling car of the two regardless of power.
2) BMW Apologists - They will love a BMW no matter what happens - even if the car is truly beaten by another competitor.
Finally, Autospies is traditionally an Anti-BMW group - but I'd love to see an E65 take it away from the M5. If only they can make it handle like a BMW.

'06 E55, '05 SLK55, a few others
They could do that now, if you don't mind the car riding like a BMW. Most MB owners would mind. The 55 doesn't handle bad, the BMW is just sharper. Can't use the advantage 90% of the time. The 55 is still faster and a better daily driver with a nicer interior. Can't stand that hideous rear either.

I'm not hating the M5, because I'd probably get one if my budget permitted...the E55 just was available now and addressed my needs for performance, comfort, seating capacity, golf club space, and finally aesthetic appeal.
