group buy of extended warranty?
i can't find the thread, but i read in a previous posting that there was some lady in chico who would sell you the extended warranty through the dealership there. she just needs the VIN#.
since we can do this, it allows for a great bargaining tool when talking to the dealer when i pick up my car, but it also poses another big opportunity for the group here.
could we call her and ask if we have 10 people, 100 people, etc. interested in the extended warranty that either are about to pick up their cars, or did not sign up for one, and we'd like to buy one each as a group, but please give us a group rate. i'm sure dealerships would bid for this opportunity, esp if its all pre-packaged and organized.
1) are extended warranties offered only state by state, so would only members in my state be able to buy the extended warranty together, etc. (state by state group buys)?
2) who hasn't picked up their car yet and would be interested?
3) does anyone know of a good dealership to approach with this type of idea?

Try Lisa Lehrbaum at 1-800-655-3535, Courtesy Motors, Chico, CA.
She has the best rates. Paperwork is a little slow since it comes from MB.
If you want to organize it, it wouldn't hurt for you to ask her about a group buy.

depends on year of your vehicle and model. we'd have to get a list together and submit it to her. but i imagine if we get 10 people all interested, we could get a big quote for all 10. better to keep it all E55's that way the same model. Also W211 model.

i'll call tomorrow and see what kind of discounts she'd offer for multiple warranties. i'd assume she'd want all e55's and all in the state of california, but i'll see what the parameters are.

Funny, I just spoke with her about transferring our other two extended warranties to the buyers. When I told her I got a new 55 she asked me if I got the extended warranty. I told her no, not yet. She told me it would run about $2600 for the current version of StarMark. Also, she said it was going to change around the first of the year, and increase coverage and price. I would be in if we could arrange something![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Hope you dont mind, I had to email her about a charge from my DC warranty, and sent her the link to this thread so she would know what is up.

spoke to her this morning. $2490 is what she initially quoted me and is what she's sticking to unfortantely. she said its a couple hundred bucks over cost to them so if 100 people showed up it still would not be worth it to drop lower than that price point.
sorry guys, i had higher hopes.

i did not ask that as my car arrives in under 30 days, and i forgot. she did say that if you had the VIN #, you could fax in and buy it now. i already have my VIN # from my dealer so theoretically i could buy it before i got the car.

she said a little better coverage on the stereo system. but not much more. she said it was not worth the extra $, and she's buying hers now. if anyone hears anything different about the new plan, please let us all know.

dealer got upset when i told him i had bought the extended warranty early. he said he would have beaten the price and the E55's extended warranty cost is 1700. i called lisa back and got her down to 2190.

Are the discounted prices quoted here for an additional 12, 24, or 36 months ?
Brochure that I have lists Extended Warranty Coverage costs for AMG models
at $2390, $2960, & $3410 respectively.

Thanks for the info.
I never figured that we could get such a big discount ($2190 vs $3410 list)
on anything from MB.
I hope we can all get the same deal as you did.
