Coolant Flush Issue

Anyone here can help out with my coolant flush issue. It’s a 2007 e63 and I’ve flushed the coolant 3x. After the second flush, the ac stopped blowing hot. I filled it up with coolant and bleed the system by waiting for the temp to go above 85 and blasting the heat. Bubbles came and then a lot of coolant came out. It then stopped and only cold air comes out the vents. Do I have to reflush the system again to get all the air out. Mind you I left the car on 2x for 20 or so mins to bleed it out.

You likely have air in the system and maybe specifically in the heater coil. Fully warm the engine and drive it for a few minutes with the heat set on high. Park it to allow the engine to cool down. Check the coolant level in the reservoir and it will likely be low. Add coolant to bring it up to the proper level and do the warm up-drive cylce again. Again after cool down check the coolant level and top up as needed. You may have to do this several times to get all the air out. This is the reason MB has a vacuum procedure as it only takes once to get the air out. But without it you can do it this way - it just takes longer.

I drove it for 5mins and it did exactly what you said. The level went down, like basically emptying the expansion tank. I filled it up but left the cap open and let the car warm up again. Coolant just spilled all out. So what your saying, just refill the coolant after the short drive. Close the cap and drive the car again? It’ll bleed itself while I drive with the heat on high?

The coolant system works on pressure. Let the cap on and let the car warm up, add coolant when its cooled off again (rinse repeat)

If coolant spills out with the cap on, you probably have a stuck thermostat (and/or broken waterpump). Too much pressure = overflow

didn’t know coolant can still come out with the cap on the tank. I guess there must be a vent on the cap to let pressure out. Thank you for the help!

Correct, the cap works as a safety device. If the pressure becomes too high (as a result of high coolant temperature), it will relief pressure and spew out coolant

Hmm interesting stuff, I was checking pressure caps for the M113k and I see 2 caps, 1.4 BAR & 2.0 BAR Seems I have some research to do myself haha. I made the assumption only type of 1 cap was available

both of you guys were right. Filled it up with coolant. Drove it for a while and boom. Hot air. Appreciate your help!

Glad it worked. It would be prudent to continue to check the coolant level when the engine is cool to make sure that small amounts of air isn't continuing to be purged. Even it is only needs a little more coolant to bring the level up to the proper level. Once you don't see any coolant drop over a couple of checks, then you know it is likely fully purged of air and full of coolant.
