Checked my tire pressure for the first time and..........

all 4 tires were at 45 psi! Did anyone else notice this? BTW pressures were measured cold, in case anyone is wondering, and I checked it on two different gauges.

I cant believe something as important as tire pressure would be so off straight from the factory.

My tire pressure from the dealer was 30 psi. I don't think you can say for certain that it was set at the factory. One would think the dealership would check. Whether the person at the dealer who "preps" it knows what the right pressure is, is a different story.

They over inflate the tires from the factory to prevent flat spotting. Your dealer should have changed it during PDI. I bet it feels like a luxury car after you deflated them to proper pressure.

It's amazing the number of people that think the max listed pressure on the tire is "right".

41 front 36 rear has worked very well for me and some others.

Correct pressure is the pressure you need to get even tire wear. So far, 36 front, 34 rear has been working well, but it looks as if my PS's are wearing a little more in the center on the rears so I may drop that by a couple of pounds.

Has anybody ever tried that trick where you take a piece of chalk and make a mark across the tire, then drive for a while to see how the chalk faded. If it faded in the center of the tire the air pressure is too high. On the edges its too low. Im not sure if I explained this correctly or not.

Yes, it works especially well on large truck tires with aggressive tread. You need a really smooth surface to do it, and it will get you "in the ballpark", but really the best thing to do is keep checking and adjusting the pressures after driving the way you would normally. I don't know of a quicker/easier way to find your ideal pressures.
