V60 Phone Question....

So I am picking up the E55 on Monday, my question is this: I plan on leaving the V60 in the cradle and in the car at all times. My day to day phone is also on the same network as the V60. Is it possible to have both numbers (the V60 and my day to day phone) ring on both handsets? I am not sure how this is going to work out. I don't really want a in the car only number, but the V60 will not meet my needs day to day.

What has worked for you?

So if i'm hearing you right you want two phones to have the same number? I don't think you can do it. I tried something similiar. My company gave me a cell phone (which of course I diddn't want as I wanted to keep my MB phone). I called verizon and asked and they said no.

The term the TelComm's use for this is extension phones. Many TelComm's (including Verizon) do not support this because they feel each phone must have an unique ESN number for tracking purposes. Also Extension phones don't work on the CDMA network.

See link for an example:

I know all of this because this is something I would really like but have been unable to accomplish

How about this: I am purchasing a Motorola E398 soon and I was wondering if I were to get the OEM cradle if it would fit. MB says the cradle only fits the V60 Motorola, but I think they're just saying that. Aren't all Motorola jacks the same?

No dice, bro

I have gone this route as well. There is proprietary software in the **Cough** $500 MB v60 phone that makes it the only phone to work with the system

Correct. Hate that "feature", but I'm told we will be able to change cradles soon and be able to use something other than the V60, including Nextel. Supposedly, the voice command lever will be your "push to talk" so the walkie talkie function will also work. Hope so. My business uses Nextel, and if that's the case, the V60 is going to be a paperweight.
