The Continentals are pure crap. Pilot Sports are a good choice. Also really liked the Goodyear F1's on my E430. Ditch those tires, you won't be sorry.

is it even worth it to try and get the dealer to trade the continentals for something else and get some sort of credit, or should i just drive over to the tire shop after i pick the car up?

I doubt they will do anything for you, but it couldn't hurt to ask. Otherwise, drive it a couple of weeks before you change 'em unless you can find a buyer. That way, you'll appreciate what we're talking about. I actually thought I had a bad wheel bearing on the 430!! The Goodyears also solved the tramlining the Continentals caused. I know it's mostly the crappy freeways here (freakin' 101!!), but the difference was night and day. It's unbelievable MB would put those on an AMG car, especially the new ones.

SL 65 AMG and E63s AMG
I replaced the front tires with michelin ps2 after 5k miles and left the rears as is. I would guess that if you replaced the front and rear at the same time it would be best but I didn't want to spend the extra bucks right now. Michelin invented radials and in my opinion still are the best. My only gripe is low treadwear ratings.

I have the Pilot Sport A/S on my car right now, since it rains so try to be safe as possible. But come around summer time the PS2's are going back on.
I dont have the model number but tell the guy at Costco you want PS2 Michelin Tires and they will know what you are talking about. I get my tires from Costco too and have had a trouble free experience so far and will continue to shop there for tires and other products in the future.

thanks. will do. yea, costco is great. my brother in law got a flat, drove on it for 4 miles since he was on the bridge and costco replaced 2 tires of his free of charge. great service.

PS2 is probably the most expensive tire in the market now. Some people say it is overpriced, some people say its worth the money. I havent tried them yet (I was tempted to do so but just think they are too expensive). Dont get mistaken from the regular Pilot Sport, they are totally two different tires. Dont get Pilot Sport A/S as there are quite a few members have "pulling to the right" problem after installing the Pilot Sport A/S. It is also a tire NOT recommended by Mercedes.
I would suggest you to abuse the Continentals first, then change to PS2 or something else. No need to change it right away.

Seems odd that some people have the pulling to the right issue. I dont have it at all. But I did have the guy at Costco inflate the tire to 60psi and then take the car for a spin and have them deflated to 35 all around again to make sure that its seated properly. But the PS2's are the best tire for the money.
