Valentine One Install
I would really appreciate some pics of your installations. I have been usingthe V1 for years but I have never opted to use the "remote" display. Since I needed a new wiring kit (did not have mine taken out of the Cayenne) I also order a remote display. How are other board member installing these units. A search resulted in a few hits of etched mirrors, but I am not willing to spend that much $$ on this installation. thanks in adavance.

I recently put a V1 in my E55 and put it to the left of the rear view mirror with suction cups. The wire is routed under the plastic windshield surround down the A pillar and into the dash. Switched 12 volt can be found in the ashtray and the headlight switch only. All other hot wires are low voltage or unswitched. I connected mine to the headlight switch because it was much easier to get to.
When I trade the car it is very easy to remove the unit and trade for a newer version. As far as I know V1 is the only radar that will give you money for your old unit. BTW don't believe any of the garbage you read on the internet about how great the off brands are. V1 is the best, period.

I believe that the lighting/electrics in the W211 is different than in the W210. I got my power in my 96 from the dome light but couldn't find switched 12v in the W211 dome light or rear view mirror connections. But then again I could have missed it.

Did the same exact installation in my 2 W211's and it is both soimple and safe. I can post pics if you would like.

Sorry to revive an old thread - does anyone have a pic of the Switched power wire in the dome light area? this was the only post I could find - but no pic was ever posted.
(trying to power up my radar and DVR cam)

I have my power cable hidden along the headliner and A-pillar. It runs down to the OBDII port where it plugs in to a V1 Savvy, which is great for parking lots and stuff . The flat power cable that runs to my remote unit I have wedged in between the wood trim and the dash right above it and comes out right next to the steering wheel. I have figured that a lego block with sticky tape makes a perfect mount for the remote unit and will sit nicely on the part of the steering column that kinks downward (look at your steering column and it will make sense).
