M113K engine number decode
I there a way to check the original vehicle VIN that a given M113k motor came from originally?

I have downloaded the data card for MY car.
Problem is, the engine number on the data card does not match the engine number currently registered in the car.
I would like to find out which car this replaced engine came out of........
Hence......how do I run the 'new' engine number to track the previous VIN number??

Have you got any service history on the car? Perhaps contact the last MB dealer that serviced the car, and appeal to their kind nature and see if they can do a database search for the engine number.
I assume you're trying to find out of the engine in your car has less than the current odometer - in which case I would assume the answer is 'yes'.
Essentially we have zero info on when the motor was changed out, let alone why.......although it HAS been in there for at least the last 4 years.
Main fear is.......Car shows 180,000 kms, but.........what if the engine had already done 250,000 kms, and was put in this car 100,000kms ago???
That said.....the rest of the car (and the engine, etc) are super, super, super clean, in a "taken care of, not restored" looking way....

However, the reason for the engine being swapped out in the first place will remain a mystery unless it was done under warranty at MB, in which case, I'd still contact the dealer to see if they can pull any records.
But to be honest, if the car is on 180kms - and the is healthy - it's probably not worth worrying about. I understand the 'peace of mind' factor, but I'd take a well maintained m113k at 250km over a neglected one at 85km.

I bought the car, Roadworthiness test & registration transfer, etc.
in the first 48 hrs.....just sitting in the car park with the motor running for 5 minutes........and the front end just dropped.....and stayed down.....
I was able to buy an aftermarket NEW strut locally, got it all installed today, and we're all good.
Worryingly.....the airstrut that failed was a known brand refurbished original.......date stamped March 2023.........
