Time to sell my E55. What to ask, where to list it?
Guys, the time has come to part with my car. I just don't use it anymore so it just sits. It's a 2006 E55, black with pano roof. 110,000 miles +/-. Black outside, black with navy designo interior. Harmon Kardon audio. Flat bottomed leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, Eurocharged engine and trans tune. Lowered but not slammed with Star system. My Star computer system system included in sale.Roderick RW2 wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires. Never raced, only slightly and tastefully modded, adult owned and driven. It was a daily driver for a while so it's not a show car, but it's still in very good shape. That said, what do I ask for it and where is best to list it? I have a few cleanup items to do on it and then I'll list it in the classifieds here, but where else would be an effective place to list it, and what's a good ask for it? Once I list it I'd like to move it, so I really don;t want to sit with it for months waiting for the last possible dollar on it. Fair for me and fair for the buyer would work fine, as it usually does. Any input you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

I looked in the classifieds here, and the price range I was considering asking is much less than what most in the classifieds were listed for. Are the classifieds on this site effective, have any of you guys been successful in selling a car on here? Where else is a good place to list it? I don't want to deal with the hoard of scammers on Craigslist.
I've considered several cars listed in the classifieds here. Put out feelers on three, made an offer to purchase one in great condition and very low miles. Deal fell through (in my mind) when the guy wanted me to pay cash. No way I'm going to hop a flight through TSA with $21K cash in my pockets. Not to mention I felt insulted as a retired military O-6 that someone would think I would scam them. Sheesh!
Start here. Maybe Bring-a-Trailer. Avoid Craigslist and FaceBook Marketplace.
Heck, PM me the price you're looking to get. I'm only three hours away from you. Worst case, I say "thanks, but no". Best case, I say, "I'd love to buy it and how soon can we meet"!
I am interested and located a few hours from you. I've only ever lurked on here, so don't have PM privileges. Should be able to send me an email from my profile though, if you wanna give me a shout.
Don't post on the forum that's for sure. People want to crucify you if they don't agree with the price or otherwise.
I've sold three of my past AMGs on AutoTrader with great success - I feel the most serious buyers come from there, some even send their driver license's and a note next to it to prove they are serious. BaT and Hemmings are decent too, I just don't think they get the same traffic and serious folks as much. All three of my deals were cash through AT.
Best of luck, lots of interest for these cars as the clean, V8Komp cars are becoming scarce as it is, let alone mint ones... I feel their pricing will rise a good bit above what the older M cars are fetching nowadays, E39 M5, E36 M3 etc.

I appreciate the info and advice, thanks! I'm not very adept at this selling thing, I'm not a guy who churns through cars a lot. I tend to buy one and enjoy it for quite a while. I bought this one back in 2017 and I've enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately with work and all life's other responsibilities it's sat pretty much unused for too long and it needs to go to some one who will use it and enjoy it. I sure enjoyed the heck out of it for quite some time. I have no garage space left for it and spending time outside in the Texas heat isn't good for it. I am (was) an airline pilot (recently retired) who just took a new job up in Dallas teaching other new pilots all I learned over the years, so I'll be away from home even more and simply wont have time to give it the TLC it needs and deserves. Hence, off it'll go, to hopefully someone who will give it that last 10% it needs and enjoy the heck out of it as I did for years to come.
I just sold a Porsche on BAT and found it a good experience. Not all cars are accepted, but yours looks nice. I commissioned a professional photo shoot and it paid off -- it seems to in many auctions, look at r911s for proof of the best. Before then, detail the car. And last, be prepared to be engaged when the starting gun goes off, be armed with maintenance records and an understanding of the car in its current state and have a thick skin. Actual AMG experts, shadetree wannabes and peanut gallery aholes will be chiming in on the comments. In a word, preparation. As a pilot, you surely know that better than most. Good luck.

Car was sold today to the first guy who came to look at it. Hard to watch it drive away, but I can't let it just sit in the driveway unused in the Texas heat getting burned up. Very nice guy came and bought it. Thank you all for your very valuable input and support. These cars are just awesome, I'll miss owning one. Many happy memories were made with "The Beast". No other car so seamlessly combines elegance and brutality as the W211 E55 does. I like turbos just as much as the next guy, but the low end grunt of a supercharger can't be beat.
