Fluid Leak
Noticed a puddle of fluid on the garage floor over the weekend.
yellowish clear and viscous. probably either engine oil or transmission fluid.
in the dealer today for diagnosis.
anyone else experienced anything like this?

Yeah I had that (Christ, it seems that everytime someone posts "what's this"? i'm always answering "yeah i've had that to"). Tranny fluid leak caused by a bad plug. Diagnosed and fixed in minutes. Hope that's all you have.

Advice to all - check the parking spot periodically. If I hadnt looked at the empty garage floor, I'd never have known.

Whoa, I thought I was the only one with that problem. I noticed it last Sat. and dropped it off to Laguna MB right away. I only had the car for less than 2 weeks. They did a steam test and found that there is a leakage but will notify me tomorrow. Cheers

My Service Advisor called today saying that part of the oil pan is bad so they had to special order one all the way from Germany. If you guys have the same problem, please inform. Thanks

I had a slightly different problem. I had hard shifts from 3rd to 4th when the car was still somewhat cold. They took the transmission apart and found brass shavings. I am not sure what they replaced since the jarble they use on the Service write up is so confusing. But they did replace all tranny fluid (drained from torque converter), some bearings, all gaskets, and reprogrammed transmission to specs with new controller. But I havent had any leaks and maybe they replaced the old gaskets with a newer design of some sort, who knows. Still a great car though.
Edit: It was the E320 with hard shifts from 1st to 2nd.

My 04 E55 had the same problem as well. It was leaking a reddish oil. The dealer replaced the an o-ring seal in the tranny for a fix. While the car was there, they also did the brake recall on my car. Other than those two problems, my E55 is much much more reliable than my old 01 S55.

Thats bull. Your car should shift smoothly the whole way through the powerband. I would take it back to them and keep complaining and demand that they look at it. My E320 and E55 no shift so smoothly its hard to tell if the car has changed gears.
The E320 and E55 both not only had hard shifts when cold, but also delayed. The replaced some stuff inside the tranny and reprogammed it to factory specs. This is not normal for sure.

Hrm...
I just took my 04 E55 in for a leak, they replaced the transmission plug, topped it off, etc. Now, a week later, there's a (much smaller) puddle still under the car. I'm HOPING they just didn't clean it off well. (Hasn't been driven much, we're in a snow watch here). Anyone else have this happen? A follow up leak after a transmission fix?

Thanks so much for this posting! I looked today and saw quite a lot of the same type of oil described above underneath my car. Will have to take it to the dealer on Monday.

Mine just started after 7,000 miles and 1 year of ownership. A known problem among all MB classes. Somewhat disappointed that our $90K sedans have this problem. Will be taken it to the dealer first thing Monday and waiting (takes about 30 minutes) for them to replace the seal.

My hot rod leaked oil the first week parking in the garage. The dealer replaced the oil pan & a bunch of parts that had to special order from Germany. Now it's all gravy!
