Trailer hitch wiring/ SAM unit - Talk to me

So I want to do the unspeakable…. I need to put a trailer hitch on my S211 E55.

I think the normal s211 hitch will fit maybe with some cutting, I will find an aftermarket hitch and fit that. I’m in Europe so not looking for the square receiver type.

Here are my questions;

1.The part I’m stuck at is I want to retrofit the wiring as if it came from factory. Can I just buy the wiring loom from Mercedes or do I need additional/different control units or SAM modules?

2. Will my trailer lights work without coding? I want to fit it all in Switzerland and then drive back to my home country where I can get any potential coding done. I don’t have any contacts in Switzerland to do this and the work is wildly expensive there. I can live with turning off parking sensors for a few days until I return to Ireland.

Thanks for any insight on the above!
