Exclamation 2003 E55 Fuel Sender Struggles

Hi there,

This is my first post so apologies if this has been discussed before.

I've recently purchased a Japanese import E55 2003 and I've bought a new set of fuel pumps as the old ones had seized.
The fuel sending unit was also damaged so I need to replace it, however the parts seem to hardly exist and if they are available they are ridiculously priced. So is it possible to use a fuel sender from a 1.8 - 5.0l W211? The only differences I can see are some different hose connections (which I can replace with the old ones) and some different styling. These senders are a fraction of the price too.

If this is not possible, then can I use the newer style sender unit with the additional sensor on top and leave it unplugged?

E55 Correct fuel sender: 2114705094
E55 Newer style fuel sender with extra connector on top: 2114706494
W211 1.8 - 5.0l sender: 2114703994

Any thoughts would be very appreciated!

Thanks

Just get the ECS refurbished unit and call it a day (first part number).

I did speak to them yesterday and they said they don’t have any in stock. The guy I was speaking to was fairly unhelpful though so I’ll try again. Thanks

NA has 3.8bar fuel pressure, AMG has 5.3bar. Too low fuel pressure= lean mixture= engine block damage

Thank you Uncle Ben, that was my worry. Looks like I'll be buying the expensive one.
