we've heard many times about the rumoured steering rack in the CLS (from november) being implemented in the E55.

Can anyone here (I know there are a few) tell me if they have noticed the difference in their 2005 E55 steering compared to older models??

My dad is getting the January production E55 so it should be in here by mid february - early march...
Yesterday we talked to the local mercedes dealer in sydney and they didn't know anything about the new steering

 

From what I read, the new steering rack is being utilized with November and later production. I can't imagine any existing 2005 E55 owners have the new rack yet. I suspect that cars delivered next month will have it.

 

Does this mean that I can replace my current steering rack with one of those new ones once it;s available? I wonder how much that would cost!

 

Finally, a silver lining to my spring delivery

 

Replace your steering rack! Is that feasible or possible? I doubt you can easily and cost effectively make engineering changes to previous models like that?
