Well just like a little brother says to a big brother....I GOT BEAT UP IN SCHOOL......and now I come to my E55 AMG big brothers for an honest answer.

Bottom line is that I got toasted by an Audi S4 the other day with my E500. "Toasted" for me means nothing less than slowly or rapidly pulling away from your opponent from a stop. Luckily for me the S4 just slowly pulled away from the 500 so the defeat was not all that bad........

NOW I WANT VENGENCE!!! I don't know why but Salt Lake City... (I AM NOT A MORMON....sorry...you just get used to saying that living here)....is Audi land. They are all over the friggin place here and they must tell the people "this is better than the Benz.....that is better than the Benz)...cause they are all hostile on the road towards the Benz owners.

That said..I post the question. Until the rumored new S6 changes the playin field...PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME THAT WHEN I DROP 90K....THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO TOAST ANY UNMODDED AUDI PIECE OF CRAP ON THE ROAD.

For that matter....I am also in the wild west where if you don't drive an Audi....you drive a friggin pickup truck....another demon I am hoping to exercise. I almost dread stopping at a red light, as I know I will look over and see the "lifted Hemi Ram" with the "boy peeing on Chevy and Ford" sticker in the window ready to race.

I am a life long drag race fan and participant so I know how to load these bad boys up and launch them just inside of tire smoke....TELL ME THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO SMOKE ALMOST ANYTHING STOCK ON THE STREET!!!!(cept Vipes right?)

That's all any little brother asks of his big brother.....are the E55's really tough enough.....gotta go....there's an Audi revving his engine out in front of my house....RRRRRRRRRR!!!!

You'll eat an S4 for lunch with an E55. My brother in law has an '03 S4 and I've driven it side by side with my E55, and as long as your not in the twisties, no comparison. You will own the stoplights with your E55.

I like the E500 for a nice V8, but you have to drive the "Hammer" to appreciate what torque is all about.

Yes, it's worth the 90 grand. It's actually a value when you compare it to similar torque monsters.

Go big and you won't have any kid on the beach kick'in sand in your grille!

Yeah, I posted that question in another forum.....but the AMG guys just kept saying the same thing...."if you have even one piece of motor trouble with aftermarket blower on....dealer will tell you to eat rocks"

Do the 55's really ride a lot more rough than 500....I don't wanna be banging all over the place....like when you put the 500 in "sport suspension" mode.

I like having the option......

I have an E500 and had the 17" Appearance package wheels and put on the 18" E55 wheels. Just changing the wheels 1 inch has made the ride a lot rougher (although it looks good).

The comfort mode I had with the 17" is gone. It feels like the comfort mode on the 18" is the sport 2 on the 17". I have no idea how people put 20's on.

The other day I was at the book store, a SL500 pulled in and he had the SL500 and the AMG symbol on the right. I mean c'mon.. That car is a great car - To get to the point, I guess the average person can't tell the difference.

Saw the exact same thing in Scottsdale yesterday. He had AMG wheels so he probably thought it was the same thing as a full AMG model... or not.

As far as warranty goes, it depends on the dealer. If you blow a head gasket, obviously they will tell you to take a hike, but if the NAV dies or something else unrelated, you shouldn't have a problem. Also, at least HPS warrants your entire drivetrain just in case. You would probably lose as much money trading up to a 55 as you would buying and installing a SC on what you have. I doubt very much you would like the ride of 20's. Had 19's that didn't last long, the stockers went back on in 3 mo.

Haha... I understand tho - some people are just ignorant and go around acting as if they have an S4, M3, AMG.. whatever - they own the road. I just go on teh premise that someone else has a faster car than me - I just enjoy my car for my own happiness and not to "own" people.

Jakpro: Audis are very popular in all snow-prone areas because they're full time all wheel drive.
I had an Audi A8 a few years ago and it was more competent in slush and snow than the 4WD SUV's I've had.

As for restoring your ego, you need to know that the E500 does 0-60 in ~5.8 seconds. That's not too shabby.
But look at the number of cars which are faster (and learn which ones to avoid toying with if your ego is fragile).
The S4 does 0-60 in as little as 4.9 seconds (Motor Trend). The current M5 can't even outdo the S4 (some tests have been faster, some slower).

Other stealth bullets you might want to avoid (because (stock) they're faster than E500 though you might not think so):

LOL, what a funny story. Let me drive over there and take care some bus. for ya. My brother has an E500, it rides smoother than my E55, his seats are more comfortable than mine.

may sounds cheesy, but 150hp of spray will sort out all your Audi problems (as well as 99.9% of all others). Plus, even done right, with all the bells and whistles a nice nitrous system is rarely over $1000.

If you just want to occasionally roast some chucklehead in the other lane, go that route. Don't drop $20k on a trade-in that you're unsure about anyways.
