I just had to

I'm not quite sure how I found this thread and the one on the BMW forum but I did and I'm amazed by it. First off, obviously they are both pointless since apk1013 has no clue and never will. Second, Improvis you are right and wrong...u r correct with all the data showing that apk's M5 could never hope to match an AMG Benz over a run or even multiple tries... but wrong in assuming he was capable of figuring that out from all the data u cited. Next, the challenge started out with apk calling out AMG's ( v8 sc ones... they all run almost the same exact times so 1 can substitute for another unless u wan't to cry about it ) and not showing for the races. Now, and this is what no one has said anything about yet, he might eventually race an AMG but with more mods than when he had made the challenge? So you can beat a stock cl55 3 times but can't race a stock e55 (which is just a tick faster) with all your "new mods"? This twit is stalling... by the time he actually races any AMG, in a couple of months, he'll have a gutted, blown, and nitrous fed M5 and still want to challenge stock AMG's Maybe then he'll beat one, but then all an AMG owner would have to do is slap on some drag radials or slicks and make him feel like a fool yet again apk, when you agreed to race, the e55 was included... all 3 cars you agreed to race are mechanically identicle except for the shell of the car and interior. Anyway, sorry for bashing but being somewhat of a realistic person I couldn't just read this crap without throwing in my 2 cents. I'm not biased either, I love both MB and BMW's... my bro has an e55 and it's incredible, but I'd still take a 2005 M5 over it since the M5 has the best looks of any sedan on the road (except for maybe a top dog 7 series). The new M5's will be awesome but still not enough to keep up with the v8 sc AMG's and that's sad cause that's what the new M5 was made to compete with and it still can't quite do it... then AMG dropped the bomb with the v12 tt AMG'S which no one can compete with!!!

Define "keeping up". On the twist the M5 will leave the E55 eating dust and on straight anything longer than a quarter mile the M5 will be the faster one...

Talking Mardeth, on which planet do you currently live?

You obviously don't live on this one, as shown by your claim that after the 1/4 mile, the E55 will "eat the M5's dust". Perhaps a quick glance at what Car & Driver had to say on this very subject might prove enlightening, since you obviously don't actually read road tests of these automobiles:

Car & Driver's article:

Originally Posted by Car & Driver

That’s quicker than anything else in this roundup—quicker, in fact, than any production sedan we’ve ever tested. Sports-car quick. The last Corvette Z06 we tested (December 2001) hit 60 mph in 4.0 seconds, 100 in 9.2, and 150 in 24.1, and it covered the quarter in 12.4 seconds at 116 mph....

....Staying in the heart of the power band was more important for the M5 this time around than three years ago, when it was hard to imagine 400 horsepower might not be enough. But that was the case in this encounter. The Bimmer was third to 60 mph at 4.9 seconds and third in the quarter-mile, 13.4 seconds at 108 mph. And even though the M5 began to gain on the Audi when speeds crept above 130 mph, it couldn’t touch the Benz. Just as in the old “Hot Rod Lincoln” rockabilly tune, “by then the taillight was all you could see.”

In curious, when you race people, do you pick out a road with a bunch of curves in order to win? Didn't think so. In almost every case, each street/drag race is decieded within 13 seconds. Who wins? E55.

You know nothing of the sort, and as usual are being willfully obtuse.

You are so ignorant and full of it is astounding. The two cars have the same motor, same gearing, same transmission, same Cd...only difference is curb weight, which is a whopping 168 pounds.

This is equivalent to adding one passenger.

Mercedes' spec page for E55: weight = 4087 pounds.

Mercedes' spec page for CL55: weight = 4255 pounds.

So, if you load up one passenger in your M5, it will instantly lose all of its power and slow down by a full second in the 1/4 mile?? Ignorant.

Mercedes' performance spec for E55: 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.

Mercedes' performance spec for CL55: 0-60 in 4.6 seconds.

And, as has been pointed out to you about a dozen times now, the two have been tested by the same magazine at virtually equal 1/4 mile times:

Motor Trend's test of CL55: 0-60: 4.27 sec.; 1/4 mile: 12.38 @ 114.45:

Motor Trend's test of E55: 0-60: 4.2 sec.; 1/4 mile: 12.39@ 116.21:

Muscle club of america verifies the reason for this on this webpage:

This is why the difference is about what you would expect: the E55 is 168 pounds lighter, and so it will pick up about 0.16. So, a stock CL55 should be able to hit right around the 12.0 mark based upon SGC's experience.

Dude, face it...you ran a guy in a non-supercharged CL55, not a supercharged one. You're not fooling anyone but yourself.

Btw, when are you going to actually show up and run the AMG guys you were accusing of not having the sack to actually show up?

I just PM'ed Benzo and I am waiting for a response to run him since he claims to be comparable to a CL55. This is what he tells me. If you think he is lying, that is between you and him. I also told SGC he is more than welcome to join us through a PM yesterday.

Hi Guys, Just wanted to Chime in on this. I have owned an M5,M3,CL55,SL55 and still own a heavily modded 996 Turbo. I have not drove an M5 in quite some time but the best I can recall is the Cl55 was much quicker. I do not thing it would be 10 cars ahead in a quarter mile but I am pretty sure it would easily beat it. I sold my 2003 Cl55 to a good buddy who still owns it. I can see if he wants to go up to Moroso after the holidays.

As far as a 996 TT and the Sl55 goes it would hand an M5 its ***. The TT has been tested stock in the low 12's high 11's. They are all great cars and there will always be someone who is faster so who really cares in the end. I would be glad to race any of those guys in my 996 TT :p

Did you ever go to the track to run like you said that you would??? We are all patiently waiting for your results. You should really just go there and run it.

Track

I can drive on the street and race from light to light once in a while with some people, but I have never raced at the track. It is unreasonable to expect to go there and prove what my car is capable of. I would rather just run with Benzo since he says his car is comparable to a CL.

Dude, you are funny.....

You wont run an E55K which is the EXACT SAME CAR as the CL, minus 168lbs (we'll put in a passenger to make it even....)

But you say you want to run a c32 (not at all like a CL) because it is modded and the owner "says" it is like a CL.

Either race a 55K car (any one will do) or let this die, but drop the lame excuses.

Flip-flopped again, APK1013!!

First, you said you'd run any and all supercharged AMGs, including the E55, and then talked trash about those AMG wimps for all of the following posts....

After all of *your* sh*t talking, the one that requires action from you has gotten zero commitments from you to actually show up like a man and run a supercharged Benz, which was the car you originally claimed to have beaten...NOT a modded C32, and NOT a C55.

So, after all of this trash-talking, when an AMGer (SGC) *DID* agree to show up, you backed out of the race with him

And I showed that your claim that you "had to be somewhere" that night was total BS, as you managed to post here three times that evening:

Then, you said you'd show up at Moroso Motorsports Park and race, but now you're wriggling out of that!

As if there's some sort of difference between being good enough to dip into the 12's in a stock M5 on the street (which you were implying earlier in the post) and doing it at a track...

*And* finally, now that we've tracked one down, it seems you don't even want to run an actual CL55 either (what a surprise!), because you obviously think you'll have a better shot against the modded C32...

Hopefully you've learned a lesson about telling tall tales on the Internet...but I doubt it. You obviously raced a 2001 or 2002 non-supercharged CL55, not a supercharged one.

I am more than willing to run a CL55 at any time. This is the car that I claimed to beat. I did not claim that I run 11's. That's what it would take for me to beat SGC's car according to his record at the track. I believe that if a CL55 races an E55, the E55 will walk away from it. This is from what I have seen and heard. Bring a CL55 to join Benzo and me. I see them all over Boca all of the time.

Oh, yeah, right....

Adding 168 pounds to a car drops its time by a full second in the 1/4!!

And I'm sure you've "seen" many CL55s running E55's too, lol....

And btw, what about the portion of my reply that you totally skipped, i.e. your promise to go to the track, that you're now backing out of, just like you backed out of your promise to run the E55's--before one agreed to show up, that is!!

What about it, dude? Why did you say you'd go after finals, but are now backing out? Why did you say you'd run E55's, but are now backing out?

Why is it when both Mercedes' performance figures and Motor Trend's tests show that the CL55 is within a tenth or equal (depending upon which one you look at) of the E55, you keep lying and trying to claim that the CL55 will get walked?

You are really funny to watch...by all means, feel free to keep amusing us. As if we're not all totally aware that when/if a CL55 agrees to show up, you'll wimp out of that one too.

But keep backing out...it is especially fun to watch after seeing you talk all of the following trash before:

APK1013, here is one thing to consider:

Here, from this thread on the M5 board, is a dyno graph of a stock 2001 M5:
Any W211's in/near Boca Raton, FL want to make some easy $ against an M5??-hp.jpg

Note that peak RWHP is 338.44, peak RWTQ is 329.83.

Now then...here, from this thread on our CL55 board, is a dyno graph of a stock 2003 CL55:

Note that peak RWHP is 437.04, peak RWTQ is 475.97.

So, let's see here...you beat a car from 0-110 mph which has 110 more horsepower than yours, 146 more lb-ft of torque, and only weighs about 200 pounds more than yours...yeah, right.

You funny!!
