Any W211's in/near Boca Raton, FL want to make some easy $ against an M5??
Maybe then he'll beat one, but then all an AMG owner would have to do is slap on some drag radials or slicks and make him feel like a fool yet again
apk, when you agreed to race, the e55 was included... all 3 cars you agreed to race are mechanically identicle except for the shell of the car and interior. Anyway, sorry for bashing but being somewhat of a realistic person I couldn't just read this crap without throwing in my 2 cents. I'm not biased either, I love both MB and BMW's... my bro has an e55 and it's incredible, but I'd still take a 2005 M5 over it since the M5 has the best looks of any sedan on the road (except for maybe a top dog 7 series). The new M5's will be awesome but still not enough to keep up with the v8 sc AMG's and that's sad cause that's what the new M5 was made to compete with and it still can't quite do it... then AMG dropped the bomb with the v12 tt AMG'S which no one can compete with!!!
Car & Driver's article:
....Staying in the heart of the power band was more important for the M5 this time around than three years ago, when it was hard to imagine 400 horsepower might not be enough. But that was the case in this encounter. The Bimmer was third to 60 mph at 4.9 seconds and third in the quarter-mile, 13.4 seconds at 108 mph. And even though the M5 began to gain on the Audi when speeds crept above 130 mph, it couldn’t touch the Benz. Just as in the old “Hot Rod Lincoln” rockabilly tune, “by then the taillight was all you could see.”

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
it is astounding. The two cars have the same motor, same gearing, same transmission, same Cd...only difference is curb weight, which is a whopping 168 pounds. This is equivalent to adding one passenger.
Mercedes' spec page for E55: weight = 4087 pounds.
Mercedes' spec page for CL55: weight = 4255 pounds.
So, if you load up one passenger in your M5, it will instantly lose all of its power and slow down by a full second in the 1/4 mile?? Ignorant.

Mercedes' performance spec for E55: 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.
Mercedes' performance spec for CL55: 0-60 in 4.6 seconds.
And, as has been pointed out to you about a dozen times now, the two have been tested by the same magazine at virtually equal 1/4 mile times:
Motor Trend's test of CL55: 0-60: 4.27 sec.; 1/4 mile: 12.38 @ 114.45:
Motor Trend's test of E55: 0-60: 4.2 sec.; 1/4 mile: 12.39@ 116.21:
Muscle club of america verifies the reason for this on this webpage:
Dude, face it...you ran a guy in a non-supercharged CL55, not a supercharged one. You're not fooling anyone but yourself.
Btw, when are you going to actually show up and run the AMG guys you were accusing of not having the sack to actually show up?

This is why the difference is about what you would expect: the E55 is 168 pounds lighter, and so it will pick up about 0.16. So, a stock CL55 should be able to hit right around the 12.0 mark based upon SGC's experience.

As far as a 996 TT and the Sl55 goes it would hand an M5 its ***. The TT has been tested stock in the low 12's high 11's. They are all great cars and there will always be someone who is faster so who really cares in the end. I would be glad to race any of those guys in my 996 TT :p
You wont run an E55K which is the EXACT SAME CAR as the CL, minus 168lbs (we'll put in a passenger to make it even....)
But you say you want to run a c32 (not at all like a CL) because it is modded and the owner "says" it is like a CL.
Either race a 55K car (any one will do) or let this die, but drop the lame excuses.

I would love to race one of these guys anytime (CL55 since that is the one I am "lying" about). My boys will also want to get in on the action with their Bimmers. Just let me know when we can get this done!!!

So, after all of this trash-talking, when an AMGer (SGC) *DID* agree to show up, you backed out of the race with him
And I showed that your claim that you "had to be somewhere" that night was total BS, as you managed to post here three times that evening:

Then, you said you'd show up at Moroso Motorsports Park and race, but now you're wriggling out of that!
As if there's some sort of difference between being good enough to dip into the 12's in a stock M5 on the street
(which you were implying earlier in the post)
and doing it at a track...
*And* finally, now that we've tracked one down, it seems you don't even want to run an actual CL55 either (what a surprise!), because you obviously think you'll have a better shot against the modded C32...
Hopefully you've learned a lesson about telling tall tales on the Internet...but I doubt it.
You obviously raced a 2001 or 2002 non-supercharged CL55, not a supercharged one. Last edited by Improviz; Dec 20, 2004 at 01:25 PM.

And I'm sure you've "seen" many CL55s running E55's too, lol....

And btw, what about the portion of my reply that you totally skipped, i.e. your promise to go to the track, that you're now backing out of, just like you backed out of your promise to run the E55's--before one agreed to show up, that is!!
What about it, dude? Why did you say you'd go after finals, but are now backing out? Why did you say you'd run E55's, but are now backing out?
Why is it when both Mercedes' performance figures and Motor Trend's tests show that the CL55 is within a tenth or equal (depending upon which one you look at) of the E55, you keep lying and trying to claim that the CL55 will get walked?
You are really funny to watch...by all means, feel free to keep amusing us. As if we're not all totally aware that when/if a CL55 agrees to show up, you'll wimp out of that one too.
But keep backing out...it is especially fun to watch after seeing you talk all of the following trash before:
http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/sho...9&postcount=54
quotient has been exceeded to the max!!

Note that peak RWHP is 338.44, peak RWTQ is 329.83.
Now then...here, from this thread on our CL55 board, is a dyno graph of a stock 2003 CL55:

Note that peak RWHP is 437.04, peak RWTQ is 475.97.
So, let's see here...you beat a car from 0-110 mph which has 110 more horsepower than yours, 146 more lb-ft of torque, and only weighs about 200 pounds more than yours...yeah, right.
You funny!!
