I just got my V1 in May and I'm already having to sink another $55 bucks into it. Has anyone else done the upgrade? Is it worth the time and cash?

tried both, 8500 is somewhat better at filtering out the junk, but for the most part these two detectors are the contendors right now. i went with V1 because it has the stealth display and i can upgrade later.

I've been a diehard V1 advocate for 7 years so I'm surprised to say this but the new Passport SRX is even better than the V1 or 8500. I was about to install it in my E500 but I decided to put it into my Aviator instead since I use the truck for road trips more often than the E. Anyway, although it costs considerably more ($700 plus install) it handles POP, it actually jams Laser guns, and it's almost completely undetectable. Here's what it looks like...
Front radar sensor:
Front laser jammer (1 of 2):
Rear laser sensor and jammer:

Flush mounted display:

On the E500 the display will fit perfectly inside the ash tray, attached to the inside of the lid. I should have that install done in another week or so.

Nice install... I had the Escort laser jammer on my truck and it worked great.
Escort's current offerings are SO much better than the V1. I am suprised Mike Valentine hasn't revamped the V1...

How much you paid for this job (besides the SRX)?
Is it true that SRX has POP mode, I could'n find any reference of POP in SRX specifications?

you can get the SRX on ebay for $700, I actually got the SR7+ which is the new version of the SRX, that being both the SR7 detector and ZR3 jammer in one package. The only problem with the SRX's from ebay is you never know if you're going to get an older unit that doesn't have the latest firmware or even worse yet, doesn't do POP.
The install was done at Audio Video Integration, a sweet new pro install shop in Newton Mass. If anyone here is in the Boston area I highly recommend they visit the shop, it's at 25 Hawthorn St. in Newton (close to Watertown). It's the kind of place that puts Tweeter to shame, I've seen their work and it's even better than Rich's Car Tunes and Sound-In-Motion which are the only other pro install shops in Boston. The install cost depends on what kind of car and how custom you want it... but probably between $200 and $500 for the SRX in a Benz. Last time I was there they had a few brand new SR7+ units in stock.

This is by far the best installation of a V1 I have ever seen on any E or any car. The workshop is located in NY check their site outhttp://www.aides********/
