After market shift knob

After market shift knob
Anyone ever tried to replace the shift knob on the W211. What shift knobs have you used, and how did you do it. As you know the boot, leather and knob are all one assembly, so I am wondering if there is a better option, perhaps an after market AMG knob that would work?
Thanks!

I had a trim shop make a new boot. The existing 211 boot has a compression ring that was reused and glued to the base of new boot. The amg knob fit my clk and any aftermarket knob should work too since the post looks like any other shifter.

Pull the boot away from the edges of the panel and lift up over the knob to expose the locking piece. When looking down, turn the locking piece 1/4 counterclockwise to loosen, then lift the knob off.

This sounds doable. Thanks for the help. Now, if i could only find a shift knob similar to this that I can install. I've looked in several forums and there is nothing that I've seen that looks good in a W211 E55. Let's hope someone knows a good supplier.
