Hot Hot Hot

For the second time in 3 days I had a 2 hour ride on the freeway, driving at my usual speed of 80-90 mph. After my last trip I decided to check out the inside of my counsle between the two front seats for heat. I opened it about 1 1/2 hours into my trip, put my hand in and found an incredible amount of heat. I put my hands down on the side of my seat next to the counsle and found the leather to be quite warm. Not like the inside of the counsel however that was REALLY HOT! Is this normal?
Before the trip I mentioned the "heat" problem to the service manager at the dealer in a phone call. He said that the nav/radio display does get pretty hot. Well......this seemed more than "pretty hot". I had a ballpoint pen in there that was almost too hot to touch. Is this normal or am I in some sort of trouble here??

Are you referring to the lower compartment of the center console ? YOu are aware that it is climage controlled (and adjustable). If you'r heat is on and the vent is open inside then it will heat.

In fact, when I got my walk through when I took delivery my salesman noted that a drink placed in the console will stay colder longer if you put in in there with the AC on. For the record now that colder weather is here I have noticed it gets warm in there. Not scorching hot, but warm. Warm with the heat on and cold with the AC on is normal.

The vent in the lower compartment can be closed so that air from the CC will not flow in there as readily. Mine is closed, as I don't have access to the lower compartment any longer.
