W211 parts availability

Parts for our cars are getting more difficult to find. Today I located and purchased two sun visor mirrors in the appropriate color for my car from Latvia and Lithuania. I can repair the sun visors using silicon seal but the mirrors' plastic housing I cannot. I'm also looking at GAHH to obtain new rear seat leather covers as mine are beginning to show 20 years of age....

For those of you planning on keeping your W211 for many more years, now is the time to invest in a stockpile of parts that are increasingly more difficult to locate.

You may want to inspect your rear quarter-windows. The rubberized seal is most likely beginning to degrade and allowing water into the rear door. Plan now.

@SICAMG didn't you post on the different sizes of rod bearings available for the M113? I'm considering if I should buy a set (along with everything else) to perform a full rebuild of my engine, to include the cylinder sleeves you have in your engine. I know I cannot just order a bearing set as, IIRC, there are four different thicknesses of bearings and one must inspect the crankshaft to identify which bearing is required.

I had the opportunity to meet up with @HemiAlex in his very quaint town of residence a few days ago and had a great visit. My car is quick. Alex's car is stupid quick! Your car should be just as crazy.

Today, I'm examining the failure of the seals on the rear quarter-windows and trying to figure out a way to repair. I have not yet checked to see if the windows are still available...just a film of black silicon seal over the current degrading seal or dig out the old seal and replace with black silicon seal? Still evaluating options.

I was actually able to acquire rear quarter windows new from MB about two years ago... Unsure if they're still available though. This was with Solextra glass as well. If there's no parts available, there's a thread here from someone who took a different approach: ..... which I cannot seem to find now, of course. Anyway, he used 3M windo-weld to recreate the seal.

Part numbers and instructions for the more official path below:

A non sequitur for this thread...it is 100 degrees F outside. Realized the house was beginning to become rather warm. Upon investigation, discovered the home air conditioning system was non-functional. Grabbed my tools and multimeter, opened up the outside compressor housing, and had the system fully operational 20 minutes later. Cause of shutoff was high pressure safety switch on the outside compressor had tripped. Just a simple reset reactivated the system. Root cause is the condenser coil's fins are clogged with dirt preventing airflow through the condenser removing the excess heat from the compressed fluid. More heat, more pressure until the safety switch tripped. Easy fix tomorrow.

At least your system has those safety switches. Many American based systems don't and they pretty much self destruct. Pressure wash that coil and you will be good to go.

The rod size are the same in just a standard bearing size. The mains are still available and are color coded.Sleeves are $28.00 each from Summit racing plus around 1,200.00 to bore and sleeve the block.
When your ready hit me up and I will give you all the info you need.
Also coating your existing bearings is an excellent option and saves a ton of money.

Hmm yeah I am planning to keep my E320 CDI for as long as possible. Wonderful workhorse daily driver that gets over 40 mpg from a 3 liter engine and is quite the highway beast. I hadn't thought too much about it but you're right parts will be increasingly more difficult to come by especially from the dealer. The divider and seals are so expensive now $65 each? I am most worried about the SBC going out to be honest. That one is a safety item. If I could keep the car for another 20 years, I probably would. We will have to see.
