Dead battery, trunk won't open

So my battery is dead and the trunk won't open (2005 E55 AMG). Tried a 4 amp jump pack on the terminal under the hood on driver's side, as well as under the carpet on the passenger's side with no luck. The key doesn't seem to work in the trunk either. Anyone know a trick to get the trunk open? Can I remove the rear seat and get in the trunk?

i dont think theres any access behind the seat. The key can be tricky. It’s also a button. As your turning the key push it up at the same time.

Just use the mechanical key in your key fob. Easy to do. Lots of good info in the "Practical Hints" portion of the owner's manual.

Yep, the mechanical key in the fob will work, per above. Just ran my own battery down about a week ago and used this method to get into the trunk to replace the battery.

Sometimes the lock assembly gets "locked up" from never being used after 20 years so take a can of WD40 and insert the tube into the key hole and spray it in to free the lock up. All the tumblers get corroded and freeze up. Might have to do it a couple times and then it should stay lubed for a while.

The latch handle can also "freeze" up from dirt and/or corrosion. Mine would stay pulled into the "open the trunk" position and drive me nuts because when the latch is stuck in this position, the trunk lid will not close with the buttons. The trunk lid begins to close and, part way down, the system recognizes the handle is in the "open" position and the damn trunk lid pops back open. I couldn't close the trunk lid until I realized the handle was stuck in the "open" position and pushed it back into the "closed" position...
