Raced an m3!
We raced twice from a trafic light, (-21 outside ) both time were pretty much the same we start and roll side by side fighting for traction and as soon as i get traction i leave m3 behind, But damn -21 there's no traction at all with all that 516 ft of torque. Second time he turned off the DSC he had alot of wheelspin but but he had a good start we were even until 60km/h or more, then i got some traction and left him with a half or 1 car behind.... it was pretty cool, but no traction whatsoever!

yea, no contest.... my friend came by with his SMG M3, and I ran him about 15 times in my C32.... VERY close... I had a slight edge at the top end past 120MPH.... otherwise, it's pretty much even....

I had an M3 SMG too, and its no contest, the E55 is faster, on paper it doesn't seem like a huge advantage, but in reality it's not even close. Of course I'm talking straight line acceleration.
What's mind boggling is that the E is a 4 door luxury sedan!

I also met this corvete with number plates "1 2play" but he didnt want to play with me lol And i wasnt intrested either... wasnt even a z06!
But i love m3s even tho they're not as fast!

Vetluver, your wife's m3 being a portly convertible doesn't help matters much in the performance arena.
The e55 is an interesting character. Room for four full-size adults, too much power for the rear wheels and tires, too luxurious suspension to handle, limo stop prioritized over braking for a bend, detachment prioritized over involvement.
I don't know, at first I loved it, then I decided it wasn't for me and went with the C55 instead. I even got it for $35k less than the E55. However, you will never find another car with such a surreal combination of priorities. So if you are the type of person that likes this, then it is one of a kind and priceless.

With all the horsepower it seems like even though they could, nobody stopped to think about if they should, at least not with anything more than dollar signs in their eyes. I really wish they could have added a drag mode or something like that, where the car hooked up better and the esp was optimized for launching, or a track mode for sensotronic that falls back on the hydraulic system, or a race day mode for the steering which changed the steering ratio and turns lock to lock.
The type of technology I am looking for in a luxurious hot rod is one that can be a luxurious car, a hot rod, and some mixture that I select in between. Even though I am not the largest BMW M fan (more due to the image and typical clientelle than the company) they did have an amazingly good idea with the customizability of the the electronic nannies, suspension settings, and power settings. I think this is the future, and I hope AMG catches on to this wave.

I love finding E46 M3's on the street. Usually they know what an E55 is but every once in a while you will run into that one arrogant chump who doesnt know a fraction of what he thinks he knows and ends up with the surprise of a lifetime! They get killed every time. My good friend has a Laguna Seca Blue M3 SMG and all I can say is the transmission sucks, all it does is kick you around. Really rough and unrefined.

You all watch out for the new 06 Z06 it will have a 427ci 500 HP monster motor. Supposed to run 0-60 in 3.8 sec!. Will weigh around the 3100 lb range. Will be available in a convertible version.
I might have to consider adding one to the collection. Please don't dis me on this one, Vettes are not refined by MB and BMW standards but there still a kick in the a$$ to drive.
