My first encounter with snow storm in my E55!

Had to drive alot today around T.O and i still didnt put my winters on, so today I drove with my 265s at the back and let me tell you the car drove very well, better then my 745i!!! I raised the car put it in Comfort so it starts with second, if you give it a little bit of a gas it drives like it has winters and even ESP is not flashing, and the roads were pretty bad! ASk Vrus, I saw him too at the evening, was it you man on Dufreen going north? I honked twice maybe you heard lol... Anyway i'm leaving tomorow night to Cuba with my wife for christmass and new year. See ya in a week. Gonna put my dunlops on when i come back tho!

If you had some expirience with your E55 in a snow post too!

Happy holidays and happy new years!

Same experience with me last year in NYC. Was great with the Dunlops as well. For now I'll keep my PS2's on for another week (just got the car back and they're new).

How do you clean a car after driving in snow? Snow???? I do not drive in rain because it takes a week and 3-4 wash/details to get back to new again. Snow?? No way. If I lived in a snow area (I never would) I would not even buy a E55 because of the maintainance I would have to do. But glad to hear the car can handle it.

3-4 washes to get it clean again? Never heard of that or noticed it on mine.

How does it look under the hood, classi, wheel wells, inside of rims, brake calibers, door rails and inners, All side moldings, and all the crome?

I have been told I am picky but all my cars are perfect. My 98 GS400 with 100,000 on it looks show room. Like new. I have just maintained it and have added no money other then wash and wax. I can not say the same for the engine internals. HA Ha Ha! Car has been floored and max RPM since new. Never ever have had one problem. No HP or TQ.

That's what I was thinking. I had snows on my 540. Car was manageable, and the tires made a world of difference. But that car didn't have 516 lb./ft. of torque. And it was a lease - so I would take greater chances knowing I'd be walking away from it in a matter of months, and it made no difference if the car looked new or was slightly beat up.

I didn't want to chance it again with an E55 that I own. Especially since the guy driving next to me, or at me, may not have the same car control as I might have with snow tires and a gentle right foot. So I leased a cheap Jeep Cherokee for $279/month. I have peace of mind.

You obviously dont know what your talking about. Snow doesnt stick, it doesnt make the car dirty. As long as its freezing ,otherwise it a pain in the ***.

Funny, with that statement it sounds like you don't know what you're talking about. I've been in the NE for last 15 years and from DC to Maine they salt and sand and that ALWAYS makes a mess on your car, even at 15 below.

But it was nice of you to imply he was an idiot on Xmas anyhow..

Merry Xmas =)

What's this all over my car? It can't be snow, because snow doesn't stick. Wait, when you put salt on snow, what do you get? Brown slush, which makes your car very dirty, very fast. Leave the stuff on of course, and it's car cancer.

Sure the snow sticks to your car. Here in Buffalo NY it is car magnet. Nothing better than snow/salt/dirt on your cars for days and you can't wash it off because it wouldn't stop snowing. My advice is leave your E55 at home and get a beater for winter driving. Snow tires may help some but if you got at least a foot of snow out, plan to stay home. Like others said, you should worry about others plowing into your car with their junks. Unless it is a lease then who cares, right?!!! My AMGs, even they are older models, always stay home during the winter. I let my ML do the dirty work now.

I couldn't imagine driving my E55 in winter weather. Snow, salt, slag, black/brown crusty slush, etc. Seems sacreligious. How about all the crap you drag into your car with your feet? Wet, musty floor mats. Car would definitely take a cosmetic hit. Get a winter car, please.

However, I see know reason not to drive in the rain. In fact, here in Florida on the east coast, when I drive around the car normally gets this kinda hazy stuff building up on it, possibly sea spray, which a nice light rain washes of so that the car, if waxed, looks cleaner than before!

Happy Holidays to all!
