Dyno'd pre-Evo stage2 upgrade...
was done on a dynojet, i know i hear the mustang is the better one but thats all that was available. anyway, peak hp in 3rd gear was 442 and peak tq was 466 at 3500 rpm. since ill be doing the dyno on the same machine i guess it really doesnt matter what the #'s themselves are just what the gain is. but does anyone have any info on what to calculate for driveline loss from this maching. b/c typical 15-18% is 508 to 521 and obviously much too generous.

I'd say you're right that the numbers don't mean much other than to show the gains. And then the gains won't matter nearly as much until they are translated into track numbers. Without track times, all folks can do is run around and compare dyno charts or argue mustang vs. dynojet.

You're not going to want to run any times on those continentals. Although fun for getting the runs in, you're traction will be horrible. After the mods, traction was still bad, albeit better, on the PS2's.

Sweet. I think they are the best street tire you can get. They gave me decent traction, much better than the conti's, but nothing will compare to the drag radials. That'll be your next purchase after you take a few runs with so much power you can't hook up.

read an article from toyota that said you should use 12.5% driveline loss from a dyno. mine of 442x1.125=496 which seems to confirm what many thought was nearly the same hp as the s and sl55's. my hre's are a little lighter than the stock wheels so i may have picked up a few hp there too. oh, plus my s55 snorkel which makes MUCHO power!

Peter B: Those are pretty healthy numbers. Of several 55's that we have dynoed, one was in high 390s, but most are in 420 RWHP range.
Good Luck with the install and lets us know what you get.

And in no way am I trying to be picky, but I think that calculation is wrong. It should be 442 divided by 0.875, which equals 505. Said another way - Reducing 505 crank horsepower by 12.5% leaves 442 horsepower at the wheels.

And I really believe that our cars are making well more than 470 horsepower. It takes more than that to get 4341 lbs down the quarter in 12 seconds at nearly 117 mph. I tried those rough hp estimators that use your quarter mile time or speed and weight to give you an estimated horsepower - but they just seemed way out there (600 hp) and unreliable. Too bad I haven't been able to find an engine dyno test on our motors.

The snorkel may be worth something, but not 20 ponies. But I really do believe that the HP rating of 476 is conservative. It must be closer to 500. Somebody please prove me right.

Can someone please show me a pic of this snorkel. I have an idea on what it is but not exactly sure. Is it the round tube that goes from the grille to the intake? anyone have the part number off the top of their head of the S55 or whichever one people are replacing it with? I know I can do a search but I'm too lazy.
