Chrysler 300C SRT-8 $39K
Chrysler announced this week that the 425HP performance version of the 300C, dubbed the 300C SRT-8 will be sold for less than $40K to start.
From TheCarConnection.com
“Chrysler Prices 300C SRT-8 From $39,995
The fastest four-door from the Chrysler Group will cost $39,995 when it goes on sale in the spring, the company announced this week. The 300C SRT-8 will be powered by the new 425-hp, 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 announced late last year by the American division of DaimlerChrysler. Chrysler is promising some hot performance from the bahn-burning four door: a 0-60 mph run in the low 5-second range is in the offing, as is a quarter-mile time of less than 14 seconds. Upgrades for the performance edition of the sedan include bigger anti-roll bars, revised springs and shocks, Brembo four-piston brakes at all four wheels, and and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels shod with Goodyear F1 tires. Leather trim, a six-CD changer, and steering wheel controls are also included in the base price.”
This is one hell of a deal for that kind of power, under $40K for a full size true sports sedan. Plus, it looks great with the 20” wheels.
2 300C SRT-8’s or 1 E55?

At that price though, are any of you afraid that You'll be seeing a whole lot of them on the road. With the price and production numbers of the E55, I still get excited when I see one on the road.

Plus according to this month’s car and driver, the interior is basically the same as the normal 300c, which, in my opinion, really removes all comparison to the E55
Nice car though.

From what I have heard there are only going to be 5000 made per year, which isn't a large amount. You will probably see more of them then a E55...but for half the price of an E55, you should.
DRCrowder-
But the M3 isn't a four door, I do agree that its a nicer car, but your comparing apples to oranges. $40K for the SRT-8 is a great deal for a 425HP luxury sedan. In regards to the interior, its a poor man's E55, of course it's not going to be all that nice (plus, its a Chrysler)!
For what it is, its a great car IMO.

Overall, it's not like the interior of the 300c is bad. I think it's at just a bit below, or at par with most Mercedes interiors. The leather is smooth and soft, the rear seats are comfortable, and it seems to have the same build quality.
What really impresses me is that it has techno gizmos like bluetooth (UConnect). It's the small things that count.

The styling and speed (handling tbd) of the new Chryslers are impressive. The big question is resale. At some point they will likely start to improve in reslae value.

Remove the blower from the 2005 E55 and you have my 2002 E55 with 355HP. Put a blower on that SRT-8 and you probably get 550 to 600HP. Hey, you can love them all like I do. The 300C's just don't do it for me, no matter the price. I'm 23 and I never thought I would love a 4-door sedan as much as I do the E55. I get excited to drive my E55 just as I do when I drive my Viper, that's something to say (IMO)! I can't see myself getting like that to drive a Grannymobile like the 300C.

Easy.... don't hurt anyone.
I like the 300C and the SRT's are okay. I don't like the interiors and think the performance is just "so - so". I see them as the 4 door, larger version of the STI and EVO VIII (conceptually); All the money is in the engine, sparsely appointed interiors with lower caliber components. That's awesome if that's what you want, not what I want.
What do I expect for 40K? I have no expectations for the 300 SRT-8, I didn't buy the car nor would I.

Hey it is absolutely ok to not like or need a particular car but some of you sound snobbish and elitist because you drive a E55?

If the 300C is a "Grannymobile" than so is every non AMG Mercedes which are all slower than the 300C and somewhat boring.
