Anyone quoted prices on Ext. Warr.?

Spoke to my dealer today about extending warr. Here's what they quoted:
1 yr. $1,580
2 yr. $1,990
3 yr. $2,380
Was told all dealers have to charge the same per MBUSA. Not what i've seen here. Also told that prices go up in Feb.

What kind of extended warranty did they quote you on? What does it cover and to how many more miles?

I'm looking into purchasing one too.

Dealer told me those were the prices for the "E" class and that the AMG was in its own class with the v12's and turbos
2yr 100000 was quoted @ $2600

You know, I was wondering about this. Anyone else confirm that the E55 is different than E? Guess I should grab the price they quoted before they find their mistake!!

How'd you know I spoke to Vinny? LOL So, I guess the prices he gave me were for regular E after all?

Was also giving me a hard time about the small antenna for SAT install. Not MB, void warranty, etc. etc.

got mine for $2190 from lisa at the dealership in chico. you can buy the warranty from any dealer. AMG and E class are different, but the markup is huge on these. my dealer told me his cost was 1700 but he wouldn't sell at cost.

haggle haggle haggle....but lisa should hook you up. do a search and you should find her number. i think the dealership's name is Courtesy Motors.

btw, 3 extra years and 100k for the one i bought.

Try lisamarie@llehrbaum.net or lisamariechico@yahoo.com

phone 1 800 655 3535 or 530 230 3154

I got a good deal from her. Dont remember details but about 400 off.

Dealers cannot be told what to charge. Anti-trust.

I got quote from two local MB dealers for my 04 E55 and the price are the same.
1 yr $2390
2 yr $2960
3 yr $3410
All upto 100K miles. This is MB company extending warr and is recorded in MB service computers. It is transferable and you can cancel for full refund before warr kick in or pro rate after use.
One dealer can give me 15% discount and the other only give me $100 discount.

I have no idea about prices for extended warranty, but here's some things to thinks about:

I have had my car serviced 2 days ago and asked my service advisor to check my tranny, because of hard shifting from 1 to 2 under acceleration. He told me that not all the parts in tranny, engine and so on are covered by starmark for example and I might have to pay for repairs. I clearly remember that 2 years ago when I was buying my c32 with 6k miles on it dealer promised me that EVERYTHING was covered. I love c32 and it is a perfect daily driver, but I drive it hard and I am afraid because of that issue I will have to let it go this month.

Second thing is that recently there was a big thread on clublexus.com about es300 owner who bought insurance for his car and when tranny broke, they denied covering it. He did all the services and oil changes on time, but was told that probably the previous owner of the car **cked it up. Another person posted that his engine failed and once again, company denied covering it using some BS.

So whoever is looking to get extended warranty, might want to make a good research first.

2005 E55
A couple days ago, called Lisa Lehrbaum at Courtesy Motors in Chico and she quoted $2390 for the extended warranty (3 years, 100,000 miles) for the 2005 E55

she said it doesn't cover maintenance, navigation system, or stereo

she said price did not go up yet for 2005 but will likely go up next month.

gmdebruyn, do u think it's possible to get her down to the $2190? any tips? I mentioned the $2190 to her and she was saying $2390 is just a little above cost for her again (hard to imagine that her cost went up since when you got it -- was it only 1 or 2 months ago?). it seems $2390 is still pretty good tho, but I'd rather save up for mods =)

Great investment when owing any AMG. Having the warranty is a huge "perk" when selling on the used car market. A future AMG buyer will always lean towards the car with the warranty. When I sold my last two cars, that was the reason that those buyers went with my car and paid more.

I paid $2,635 for my 2004 E55 when I purchased 12 months ago (36 months or 100K miles). Had to work my finanice guy on the price since it was well over $3K for the 3 years. Your prices seem about right for the various option years.

Talking What if we aren't the original owner?

Hi!

Anyone know if you can buy an extended warranty if you aren't the original owner? I just bought a used '05 from the original owner and would love to extend the warranty through the factory. I think I heard that Mercedes will only let you buy an extended warranty if you were the original owner.

Anyone know the answer?

Thanks Love my car!

2014 GL 350 on order
Owners: Lisa is no longer doing warranty sales at Courtesty. Her associate Jay Park is the contact person now. I bought my XW thru him for 3600 for 3/100K. Be careful with those other companies as MB is finicky @ any work and AMG's are different animalz! Hope this helps-Joker

Has anyone with mods purchased a warranty?

For those that have purchased a non MB warranty have you read the details closely to see if you can send the car to MB for warranty work?

My 2 cents on non factory warranty's has been nothing but headaches IF you have mods.

I had a aftermarket warranty on my T66 Supra and compression went low, I needed a new block and they would not pay for it. 50k miles on the car. I got a laywer and ended up getting a new short block.

I had a FACTORY S4 warranty and there was a blue silicone hose on it (replaced the throttle body boot) and after market brakes. My turbos went at 23K miles which was common. The service advisor declined to fix my car after it was sitting there for 60 days. I escaled called in a regional rep and got it fixed.

My point is, if you had ANY mods, do you feel like you can sleep at night knowing that if something goes wrong our motor is like $30k??

Also my car is an '03 with 29K miles. My dealer is mod friendly. Can I even still get a MB warranty?

And if I do there is a high probability for anything over say 3K will require a warranty rep from HQ to come in to approve. So if my dealer is mod friendly but MB HQ isn't then I am toast, right?

Ok, I called Mercedes national number and got these answers:

You can't get an extended warranty if you aren't the original owner UNLESS you bought it certified from a Benz dealer. If you bought it from the original owner or dealership other than a Mercedes dealer, you can not extend the warranty.

She also said that you can only extend the warranty as the original owner if you elect to do so within the first year of ownership. This is shocking, as I've always been able to extend a warranty as long as I'm within the original coverage. Puzzling...

In any event, since I bought my '05 E55 from the original owner, and it wasn't done through a dealer, I'm outa luck it seems. I hate to contemplate buying an aftermarket warranty. Heard too many horror stories to have such a warranty provide the peace of mind it is for.

Can anyone confirm? I gotta say, the rep I spoke with was not friendly and seemed really uptight and short. Hard to imagine that extended warranties are so restricted, especially given the markup they make on 'em.

Let me know if you've heard different,

Skeeter

I heard the same thing about extending the warranty only in the first 12mo or 12,000 miles of ownership. I had not heard the original owner stipulation so maybe the dealers have some way of getting it through.

i got an additional 5yrs upto 85K and paid $2498 and everything is covered. i had to buy an aftermarket warranty through the dealership but there are different levels of coverage. I made sure mine covered everything except tires, windshield wipers, and lights. I got a pretty good deal because of my previous experience and even got a 1000 rebate check from mbusa. They said it retailed for 4500 and cost was the 1700 and that they had to make some money.
