How is the market on 03 E55s right now?
I see dealers advertising them for $68,000+. Any idea how demand is right now and what kind of figures are being paid for used 03's? Anybody bought one for $60K or less yet?

The last one was sold for $68K for an 03 with 12K miles...Manheim Exotic Auction...I belive it was Jan 13.
So with that being said, I'd say expect to pay about at least $2K over that for equal miles car.

I wonder how much under asking price dealers are getting for these. A higher mileage (like 25K) 03 has a trade in value around $60K. From your previous post I assume that a dealer would need to make at least $2K over what they paid. When does the M5 start to enter the picture as far as having an impact on the market for used E55s? I suspect it will draw a few in on trade.

Agree. It would be very hard to find any 03 E55 that is clean selling for under $70K. Hard to imagine that these cars new are over $81K MSRP without options and a fairly loaded 03 is close to $20K less. My feeling is that the 03 has taken most of its hit and will stay at the low $70K or high $60K going forward.

05 e55 come march24 05
used car value
WOW..
As with any used car, the vaule depends on the car itself. A car with low miles and a good history will always bring more then one without and high miles. You will never see an 03 E55 with low miles for under 70K. Its not like there are alot lot to choose from. I'm sure when these BMW dealers take all these E55 on trade, they are going to low ball the amg owner but i'm sure they know that there is money to be made and will not give away a nice amg. Dealer are not stupid they know what these cars are worth and if you want a new one they know the price. so in a year from now a 03 with less then 20k miles should stilll be selling for 70K. where else can you get a seden with that much power and the nameplate as amg for 70k?

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
All I can say is.....
remember the 03 SL500, and as far as that goes, remember the 210 E55 as well. Still think there will "never" be an E55 in that price range? Personally, I'm hanging on for an 04, but the 03's are already on the way down. In addition, you've got to understand that this is really a narrow customer market on these cars, especailly used. The new cars don't just have more and better stuff, but the majority of these people who can afford a $60/70/80k car can and will buy a new one, or want and need to lease one. It just costs money to own and drive a car, cheap or expensive. Best we can hope is to find one we like, and minimize the cost of ownership as best you can. Just my .02, go ahead, hit me. Just lots of years of experience in the business, and lots of my own lost money....

Paid $70k for my 2003 w/ 10k miles. Got a good trade & the dealership gave me a good price, so I couldn't say no. I imagine that it will be a long while until you see a 2003 w/ 10k or less for $65k or less. What a car, what a car...

Valuations fluctuate differently for the final model year of a body style vs. the initial year. That said, the 2002 E55 market appears to be $35K to $53K depending on miles, condition, etc. And those are just the asking prices not negotiated transaction prices. I don't see any way that clean, albeit maybe not low low mile starmarked 03s won't be going for $60K after a few months.

Keep in mind that 2002's are W210 thus naturally depreciating even faster.
The $68K figure was wholesale value, NEVER go by what Edmunds or KBB says cuz dealers are going to give you, well at least they should, wholesale value based on auction prices.
The last 2004 I saw at Manheim went for $78K with 4K miles and I believe this was back in November. I know personally that my friend bought his 2004 with $3K miles, loaded and Certified for $84K and they would not negotiate.
No 05's yet...although there was an 05 SL55 with 1200 miles for $110K. The S500s are brining in less than E55's which actually surprised me a bit.

That's why I prefaced my post with "Valuations fluctuate differently for the final model year of a body style vs. the initial year." But even if W211s carry a $10K premium over the W210 at the same age, one year from now, the asking prices on 2003 E55's would be $45K for higher mileage cars and $63K for lower mileage, super clean examples.

I would be VERY surprised to see any 03 E55s selling for $45K assuming no body damage regardless of how high the mileage is.

All I know is that in Southern California, the '03 are holding firm in the high 70s. Until last month, lightly used '04s were still selling only a couple thousand below their initial sticker, even with several thousand miles. Some were even selling for more than sticker (with minor modification like new rims), even with several thousand miles.
E55 Power-- As far as the S500 going for less than the E55, I think that may be a function of the upcoming update in the S-Class. Once the new S-Classes hit the street, the old style S will take a hit, even though new. I think this is the main reason for the significant difference in sale price between the '02 E55 and '03 E55.

The one under $60K is pretty much a "fake"...just got off the phone with him. The other ones I wouldsay they're pretty good deals...sorta. Although I would never pay that much for an 03 with 20K miles.

'04 E55 Black/Charcoal
I'm from the southern Jersey area and these cars are high as hell at dealers around here. An '03 with 8K miles is listing at the local dealer for 82K. The best price I could get out of them at their "Holiday Sale" was $78.6K. Granted the car was nice and had a panoramic sun roof, but that's a lot of dough for an '03. Two other '03's I looked at in PA had over 14K miles and they still wanted $77 - 79K for them. I bought my '04 in December as a dealer demo with 6K miles for $76.5K, but had to drive 3 hours to get it. Had lots of options and only one scratch

Sounds like the used market for 03's are all over the place. Based on the previous posts, you have cars ranging from the high $60K's to low $80K's. Supply and demand drives the selling price. Remember that 03's did not even have Navi. I would assume that a clean 03 with low miles would bring in low to mid $70K's.
