W211 E55 vs. CLS 55
I have a 2003 w211 E55. My CLS55 is due this month. Can someone out there justify for me and reassure me that I am making the right decision to do the trade or I am getting basically the same car.

The new E55's (starting with the very late '04 build dates) also have the faster steering rack that the CLS uses. The CLS is said to be a sportier, better handling car than the E55 so I wouldnt call it more comfortable than sporty.

Different strokes for different folks. I am trying to like the new car but I am not feeling it. Having owned my E55 I would not consider the car, but if I was a new AMG buyer I would look at both models. From a performance perspective, they are about the same. The CLS does have a $10K price bump then the E55.
Both are AMG's, therefore you can not go wrong

Spero,
Hello there local buddy...question for you: In the spring time Im going to dump the current car and get either an '02 or 03' 996TT or an '03 E55...I know they are different, but in a straight line which pulled harder or "felt faster"?
Jason

Happy New Year! When my 996 TT was stock, both cars seemed to pull the same. When I modded my Porsche, the pull of the Porsche seemed faster. The MB being a auto makes it so my much easier to drive and launch from a stop. I tell everyone that my AMG reminds me so much of the brute force of my TT. I assume you have driven the newer E55? If not, you are welcome to come by and hammer the pedal a few times. Should be going back up to the track in March, maybe you will your new ride and you can come along. I should have my AMG LSD installed my then.

I drove the 03 cl 55 and the 03 cl 600 at Euro when they came out, obviously they felt heavy, but I have been a passenger an 03 E55 and it was impressive. I think the E55 might be a "better" car for our area. I hope to be in something by March, I have been swamped opening my own Carteret Mortgage branch in my condo, so administrative duties should slow down by then. Let me know how the LSD turns out. Where are you getting it installed?
