E55 or wait for E63?

Hey gents, I'm new to posting here, although I've been lurking for some time.

I'm going to put my order in for a new E AMG class within the next year. My question is should I do it for the 55, or wait and see what happens with the rumored E63/E65? Is there any info out there on the 65 and around how much it'll cost? If it's over 100k, I'll just stick with the 55.

Here's my take on the E63...if the M5 is going to be priced at around $90K base (which seems likely based on what I'm seeing) the E63, IMO will be priced about $5K higher (based on last model comparisson). The 55 is a blast to drive, plus we dont know when the 63 will be out let alone a 65.

This is what i would do, I would wait for specs of E63 see some testing read about it, if its about the same or better i'd get it if not, I'd get slightly used E55 and kleemanize it!

2005 E55 Delivered 01/07/05
Once word E55. Lets face it 516 lb/ft. of torque for the USA. The M5 can't touch that. If we lived in Germany where the Autobahn is than it would be a toss up. But for the US you want torque and for now Mercedes AMG's are the king of torque

Best Wishes on you choice,
MBH

The E63 will be a first year production engine and although AMG does a great job with its engines you might want to wait since it's a totally new engine.

Agreed.

Get the E55, if you think it's too slow, Kleemannize it.

I've been giving this question some thought for awhile. I'm waiting for more info to come out on the E63 before I make my final decision. In the meantime I'm keeping an eye out for nice lightly used '04s and '05s. Then have my local kleemann-authorized MB dealer put a Stage 2, lowering kit and LSD on it. This is a tempting option because I'd get more bang for the buck. I'm also on the wait list at two dealers for a BMW M6 since I don't really need another four-door car in my family. Been watching used CL55's too.

So many nice cars out now it makes it hard to decide. I've already had a couple of Porsche 911's and ruled these out this time around because I want something that's more practical. (Relatively speaking that is!) That's why I look like this these days:

I'm sure it's been done - but has anybody called the AMG factory at Affaltarbach? I called a while ago to ask about one of the AMG driving events and neglected to mention the E63/E65 possibility. The man I spoke to, however, was able to answer my every question without hesitation and I'm sure that if there are plans for an E63/E65 and they are not confidential, the guys at Affaltarbach would provide some useful info. Just my $.02

Would you happen to have the phone no.? I wouldn't mind calling, heck I'm tired of waiting.

I would get a used E55 W211 now , do a bit of mods to it. I shall wait for another year to see if the E63 worth getting, or at least, a facelift version of E-Class should be launched by then. If MB do a bit of interior redesign , add a 7-G Tranny; that would be nice to get it new.
Of course, if I were living in USA paying half price for what we are paying back home, I probably would just get a new E55 now rather than waiting. :p

Sound a lot like what I been thinking :p We do not have a choice of US car mainly because they are LHD and we are RHD. Where, I saw quite a bit of US cars in Manila and Taipei(and China) , as these are LHD countries.
Would you consider the new CL-Class ( not the current CL65 ) due to launch in Oct.2006 - this car is sooooooooooooo elegant and almost look like a CLS but with a much much wider grill and of course without the 2 "extra doors" like the CLS :p
Or would you get the 2005 new S-Class for a change. I never owned a S-Class and the new one is soooooooooooooooooooo brilliant looking
