East Coast Top Speed Run Event
You've got your opportunity (delimited or otherwise):
See http://www.ecta-lsr.com/index.htm for details. Location: Maxton, NC.
I know a lot of guys who have done this event both on two and four wheels and all say it's a blast!

Someone else feel free to provide more informed data. Interesting that the timing traps at Maxton are exactly a mile from the start line, with the remainder of the 1.9 mile runway for shutdown.
You need to bring your beast to this event!

Wolf,
1st off, where is Gwinnett County? I've spent some time all over GA and don't recall running across this area.
Now to the meat.
The guys at Kleeman suggested my car should do about 195-196 and I'm trying to figure out just where to do this. To be honest with you, I'd love to change the rear end and make it to the 200 club. That would be too sweet. 200 in a sedan that you drove too and from the event with the air on and the CD's playing. Nice picture to have hanging in the basement bar. Any ideas?
I sold a 2004 996 4S Cab and only could make 168 with it. It's supposed to run 173 but the tiny gains you get when your at those speeds feel like they take forever. I literally ran out of room each time I tried to top this number.
With the VMAX speed limiter in the ECU removed, the car will easily jet to 150 like it's nothing. I've had it to 160 and that was pretty easy but once again--no room to keep going and had to shut her down. I can only imagine holding this for more time. You get to a situation where you can't see far enough ahead to keep going.
I welcome your (and everyone's) thoughts on how to skin this cat.
Be safe,

Wolf,
Check it out: http://motortrend.com/features/scene...st/index1.html
quick summary: several cars tested acheived 90% of their top speed max after 1 mile. This would suggest that a car capable of 200 (let's call it 190) could be at 171 after 1 mile.
If you look at the CL55 numbers you'll see that this car hit 88% of it's tested top speed max of 187. 88% of 187 is 164 after 1 mile. I should think that a modified 100 extra hp could push to 171 (90% of 190) in 1 mile. There has to be a longer place to go to test let the car push and still have time to shut down. Will keep searching.

Bob it is a small world Gid_E_Up having lived in Marietta
Gid_E_Up I traded emails with Cory today and hope they have K4 done by the Spring so if I transport my beast he can get everything done. I am in the Marietta area once a month for a week! I have spoken to Cory and traded emails and he seems like a great guy!

There has got to be a way to easily test top speeds. I'll still looking.

Besides the Maxton event, you could always consider doing one of the Silver State Challenge (http://www.silverstateclassic.com/) or USAS open road racing events, like the Pony Express 130 (http://www.openroadracing.com/). First-timers must have attended a high performance driving school and are speed restricted (e.g., 130 mph average, 165 mph max) and the safety equipment required at the highest speed classes is extensive, including full roll cage, fuel cell, etc. An old Vette buddy of mine, Alan Blaine, was pretty successful in these events.

Cory and I made the assumption that the intercooler upgrade would be called K4. It is the upgrade to the intercooler that is still being tested at World Headquarters in Denmark. They do not have a tenative release date yet but it is on it's way.
Look forward to seeing how your car performs on the track with the K3 w/LSD.
