It finally happened...........
Finally an 11 second run.
11.98 @ 117.73 at Moroso tonight.
Cool weather, low 60's - high 50's, did the trick.
Drag Radials and K&N filters only.
Will post time slip tomorrow.
Also, there was a black C55 running mid 13's @ 105-106.

Wow!! Let me be the second to congratulate you.. That is an awesome time..
I guess it really proves all we need is traction and these cars can haul a$$ with the best of them.

Trap speed of almost 118 mph is strong for a stock E55 without ECU and pulley modifications. However, it does make sense and is consistent with what I have been running. Most E55s run between 114-116 mph at the end of the quarter mile.

Thanks.
Traction is a definitely a limiting factor with these cars.

OMG! that was you??? Damn if only I would have known the E55 was a forum members I would have introduced myself. I was able to pull the best time of a 13.3 tonight with the C55. My best run last time there was a 13.2. I cant launch. I don't know how you do it with all the power you have, but I give you lots of credit! I noticed you had the BFG drag radials on the rear, do you notice a big improvement with launching? I think its something I need to consider.
Btw, congrats on the 11.98, that is just incredible for a E55 without a pulley or ECU! I cannot imagine what you would run if you had those mods. Someone there told me that E55 was running low 12s, but I guess I left before you hit 11's!

Cars and boats!
nice runs Steve and Neal... I wish I could have been out tonight, last time i ran my 12.7 @ 108mph on a 1.9 60ft time and street tires it was in 70 degree weather, Im sure that with the major temp drops tonight I might have had a chance to break into mid 12s at the same or better trap speed on my street tires. I am considering maybe heading out Friday night or next week wednesday to track my car again. Neal, DRs would definately help, but I think if you get your launch down and do the trick I was telling you about then you could definately break 13.0, you have the trap speed to do it. Steve, already pulling 11s on a stock E55... AMAZING. I'd love to see what your car can do on DRs and RENNTech ECU and Pulley Kit. Well, hope to see you guys out there next time.

I walked by your car in the staging lanes, but didn't see you. A lot of people thought your car was an E55 and were approaching me to tell me there was another black E55 running. BTW- The wheels look great on your car.
With respect to the drag radials. They improve my short time (60') by about 1/10. For example, I ran 12.11 @ 117.49 on the stock Continentals and have run consistent 12.00s with the drag radials.

Thanks for the support everyone.
A lot of people at the track were in disbelief when the 11.98 posted. Pretty funny to listen to people's comments after the run.
BTW - I just submitted the time slip to dragtimes.com. Should be up within a few hours.
The car next to me on the time slip is my brother's 04 Cobra Convertible. With only $2k in mods, the car is strong (12.26 @ 117.49).

ESP off. No spin. Used same technique that I always use. Launch off idle, apply 1/4 throttle and then progressively push throttle to floor.

Thanks alot!
I had so many people come over to me thinking my car is supercharged, and when i tell them its not they were kinda confused. Somehow most people that don't know Mercedes very well assume its the same engine as the E55. I heard one guy walk in front of my car and tell his friend "thats a nice C230" lol.
Hmmm, I think i may give the drag radials a try. I am hoping they can help me, i will happily take a 1/10 gain!

Btw, do you use the drags for every day driving? or just the track?

Plus i am really wearing out my PS2s from spinning them to much at the track. How much do the BFG's need to be warmed up for a optimal performance?

I don't drive on the drag radials every day. I have an extra set of factory rear wheels with drag radials mounted on them which I keep in the garage.
Definitely worth giving a try.

Sounds good, i think i may give them a try. I noticed your drags on the factory wheels, thats why i was wondering if you drove them daily. Its a nice idea to have 2 sets of the stock wheels, that way the car never looks weird with 2 different sets of wheels.

Hey SGC, would you ever be willing to snag some video of your runs...not sure if you have anyone that could go down with you and get video of burnout to finish...would love to see a pro do it.
Video is a pain in a$$ I know (converting then posting) , so I understand if you don't wanna do it. Just askin. I would be happy to post the video up on my site for guys to download off of. Lemme know.
