Cant take credit for the link, found it on the m5 board. I do agree on the value of these cars, however...

Wasn't in a race..... just a stupid truck who cut me off and stopped for no apparent reason (at least right before I hit him - indeed there was a car in a wrong direction that made the truck stop according to the truck driver
). And the result, my car submarined beneath the truck.... luckily I'm OK.

I saw this news story about 2 weeks ago on the tube.... Both drivers are actually friends (with each other) and were on the way home from spending time at a sports center both are members at. They actually interviewed the BMW driver the next day while he was getting personal items from the wrecked car.... Laughing and joking about the accident and stating how lucky he and the driver of the MB were, both without a scratch and naturally not saying a word about how the accident happened... They also interviewed the first officer on the scene and he stated he thought for sure that this was a three car accident. He also stated that the excellent build quality of both cars are for sure why these guys are alive today.... The BMW drivers wife and small child was also present at the time of interview.... But she wasn't joking and smiling.... Lucky guys...

Thats AMAZING!
lucky *******s..
both of the drivers were really stupid for racing and luckily they didn't kill any innocent people. Hopefully others on the forum who like to pretend to be race car drivers can learn something and take it easy on the roads..

My insurance company just informed me that they've come to conclusion that it was my fault who did not give enough distance
Darn, hopefully my premium is not increased. For those who have this experience, do you know the answer of the following questions?
1. At the time of the accident, I did not receive any citation from the police. Do you think I'll get one b/c the insurance company concluded it was my fault?
2. If I do receive a citation, will I be eligible to take traffic school to clean my driving record, thus, my insurance premium won't increase? I took traffic school about 3 years ago but b/c of speeding ticket, not accident.
Anyway, the good thing... my ribs somehow feel better..... so I am 95% sure no fracture. And now, I'm looking for another car..... considering E320 CDI (more powerful than E320 gasoline but w/ much better gas mileage)

Do you guys think it's worth the price? If lucky, I'll get a used one w/ less than 10K miles
I would sue your insurance company and that retard in front you who caused the accident. But thats just me.
I would get an E350 since it has more power than a base E320 without a decrease in the fuel economy. I'm going in tomorrow to order one with all the goodies on it. Can't wait till it gets here.

Yeah, I could do that... but considering the outcome - saving approx. $1000 ($500 deductible + $400 if I get a ticket + <$100 for medical copay + $15 for traffic school) plus some extra several hundred bucks per year for premium increase, if at all, I don't think it's worth the effort and hassles (looking for lawyers, meeting w/ lawyers, go to the court, etc. etc. - which is equivalent to at least 10 working days, which is worth to me way more than $1000).
So as long as my body is fine... both externally (hopefully it won't leave any scars to my face) and internally, I just want to let it go..... just see it as a bad luck and move on

1. Agree to pay the citation by mail
2. Send in a check for ~$20-30 MORE than what the ticket is for
3. When you recieve a check from the DMV/Police Station in the mail compensating you for your overpayment, DO NOT CASH IT
When you cash this re-imbursement check, the transaction is completed and the point goes on your record. However, if you do not cash this check, the transaction stays open and the computers never add the point to your record. I am confident that this method works as that I've heard testimonials from 2 people who say it has worked for them. Now, I'm not saying that this is 100% bulletproof but all I'm saying is that if (and when
) I get a payable citation that will also include a point/points on my record, I will try this. Good luck and glad to hear you're OK!

Thank you for your shout out and concern.
I have been hangout with Doug alot. His car lot is a Car Show. 15 Ferrari's, 20 Porche, 1 Murchielago?, 15 BMW M3's, 4 Gallardo's, 2 Bentley GT's, 1 TT Arnage? 1 Phantom, 2 SL55, 10 MBZ's, 10 Hummers some miss.. Lexus and Range Rovers.
My E55 is still a dream and I respect the power. Drove from OC to Carlbad Teusday in the E55. Fun drive down the 5 south with great ocean views.
From the article:
"The crash apparently occurred when a Mercedes and BMW racing eastbound lost control, causing the Mercedes to hit a tree, split in half and eject the back-seat passenger, said Brock."
THe dude who posted this story as BMW splitttting MB in two is a moron. BMW practically has no damage compared to MB. If the dude just looked at the pictures of both cars he himself posted he would understand how stupid that sounds.

Yeah.... I guess I don't have a strong evidence and argument either way.... there was no car behind me - so no evidence that there would've been another car hit me from the back - plus there was no witness that could help me
Either way, my $$$ loss should be around $2K lifetime (one time loss like deductible, medical expense, etc. and ongoing loss like premium increase). And yes, I could file a lawsuit.... but I don't think it's worth the time to do unless it could be done and concluded within 2 working days then it would be break even with what I'm making now.
So I'm just happy that I'm still fine and alive and I can still work..... only lost one of the cars I love (I honestly cried when I saw the car's condition
).
All I'm hoping now is my insurance company won't increase my premium - with or without me taking traffic school.
Wish me luck!! And thanks for those who show concerns and sympathy.
