It is a 210. Thats a horrible thing to see. Leave it up to the BMW to lose control first of all but these kind of things just really bring you down. Hopefully - although seemingly impossible - everybody survived. It is perplexing to see how people driving such high performance vehicles are so wreckless. I'm definitely going to reduce my average driving speed and keep my racing to the tracks.

Doesn't look like a m5 from the front, more like a regular 5-serie; but I could be mistaken....

Nevertheless, the reason for losing control is almost likely that he/she didn’t have enough space to maneuver; so when it gets really close @ high speed people just instantly throw the steer in some direction and its end likes this.

I think you can race at non-track places too, but the streets have to quite empty; and you need a lot of free lanes for maneuvering.

unless you were on the scene of the accident, I don't by the story. There is no way a car getting hit by another car traveling in the same direction and split in 2. The E55 must have went off the road and hit a stationary object to substain that kind of damage. Unless Of course, if they were traveling in the opposite direction and were playing a game of chicken and hit each other head on....

I agree with Dmzz. There is no way a car can sustain that kind of damage unless it hit a stationary object or one traveling in the opposite direction.

I hope everyone survived.

Darn..... now I feel lucky. I own a W210 E55, live in the Bay Area and got a car accident on Monday My car, not the E55 though, was totaled.... and me, I got bruises all over my face and neck, and possible rib fracture (waiting for x-ray result).

Wasn't in a race..... just a stupid truck who cut me off and stopped for no apparent reason (at least right before I hit him - indeed there was a car in a wrong direction that made the truck stop according to the truck driver ). And the result, my car submarined beneath the truck.... luckily I'm OK.

Meanwhile, I've become a male version of Angelina Jolie
