When will E55 be replaced/upgraded?

When will E55 be replaced/upgraded?

Forgive me for asking a question that I'm sure has been posted before, but when is the E55 expected to have an engine upgrade? I bought a C32 in 2002 and within 18months the C55 was out. I would rather not buy an E55 now if an E63 or something is in the wings. Any thoughts on this will be appreciated!

I certainly don't have any insider knowledge, but there is already an SL65 and BMW is re-introducing the M5 later this year (06 model). I'd guess MBZ will want to keep a jump ahead of BMW and release an E65 at some point in the not so distant future.

sure but as the 65 engine demands about a 25,000 premium over an already 85k car.

Can't you still buy an SL55 and CL55? I thought the 65 series was just an extra option on top of the 55 series?

Sure you can buy an SL55. The original post here was from a person that didn't want to buy a top end engine today only to have MBZ release a car with a bigger engine in a few months. It's going to cost you, but if you just have to have the biggest engine I'd bet we'll see an E65 in the next year.
