W212 E63
Coming in peace :)

Hey guys just got out of a m5 and into a 2010 e63. I still have the m5 for another 2 weeks before I have to return the lease. When I hit the 1,000 mile mark I'll post a video of a race between the two. In the meantime I am enjoying the new ride. I'm just a bit confused as the car feels less powerful than my e60 m5. I haven't raced the two yet, but it just doesn't have that raw power that the m5 had.

Wait until it's really broken in, like after 10k. The 6.2 does seem to get stronger over time.

After you've truly broken it in, put it in manual and keep the rpms up near 5k, that's where the max torque primarily sits. Overall the car is a lot smoother with a more comfortable ride than the M. And I think that can give it the feeling of being less raw.

Maybe I am still used to the M5 SMG, but I can't seem to drive the E63 as smoothly. I still need to have the E63 broken though.

If you want to drop it off at my place, I'll help break it in for you

Congrats on an awesome car!

i got a black one and damn, it's hard to keep clean, I considered it when I bought the car, but now I know how hard it is to maintain the look. I would get silver. o:

yeah post some pics already--for anyone who wants to get into an E63 now is the time.

E55 you should get the other one from Derrick's dealer PM him or me for details.
It's the same place that I have my 2011 C63 on order and my SA called me yesterday to try and unload their last E63.

It's a great deal on a really great car--and they're willing to sell it for less than my loaded P31 C63 on order

Get 'em while their hot

black or silver is the only two colors I've ever owned in cars BMW, MB, etc.

I'm personally I huge fan of black, especially when it's clean, but DDs are tough in black.
All of our trucks for my business are black and they are a biach to keep clean

Now, my wife's cars are always silver because she'll never clean them and I already have two black vehicles to keep shiney!!

So E55 it all depends on if it's a DD and how much you like/dislike cleaning your car.
IMHO an E63 should only come in black!
That car looks so mean and limo-like/badass--black is the best choice for me!

It's kinda like blonde or brunette--either way if she's hot she's hot.
I always check out brunettes, but I married and usually only dated blondes--go figure--that's another topic for another day!!

Have to agree with the OP; came from a 2007 6 speed M5 via a 2009 750 (not a good car) and into the 2010 E63. The car does not seem as fast as the m5 but its probably all due to the linearity of the power delivery (M5 has very little low down then wham at higher revs). That being said the E63 is a great car that I'm enjoying but i'm also having a bit of difficulty with smooth gear shifts in manual. Never thought i'd stop driving BMWs but the E63 is really winning me over.

BTW guys...I was coming from an Audi S6 and I pulled the USB cable to see if it worked on the benz. Surprisingly it did...This means the Audi MMI cables are compatible with the Mercedes Media port.

black_clk - It was a TOUGH decision and it took me an hour of looking at a black E63 and a silver E63 and I chose the silver one. Silver shows the AMG bodywork more so than black does and easier to keep clean (even though I wash my car religiosuly!). Either way, both colors look amazing in the car.

As far as the dealer, I went to Herb since they had the silver one. I actually drove a demo steel grey E63 to the dock where the cars are shipped and looked at the silver E63 (the one I bought) there.

Needless to say, I am super excited! Will post pics when I get her next week. Handling on the car seems MUCH improved over the W211 AMG car

Exactly! Part of why I went silver. Although a clean black car is mean in W212 E63 flavor!

Congrats on a sweet car those New England E63s are FLYING off the lot!!
Pics, pics, PICS--I'd love to see it in silver, is that the one with CF trim and performance pkg they had?

I mentioned it to Derrick in PM, we should get together an AMG drive locally at some point--my f--ing car is still a month out, damn P31 pkg!!

I'd love to do a drive and photoshoot. The one I got has P2 and also the driver assistance package. No CF trim.

Only thing it does not have that I wanted was the 19in performance package wheels. If the car does not come from factory with them, it is more like $5K with tires versus the $2.1K from factory price. Any leads on where I can get a good deal on these?! I love those wheels

+1 on the photoshoot--a member had some professional photos done of his C63, I forget who, but I remember saying I need to do this when I get my car!

I thought the same thing about the 18" vs 19" wheels after seeing photos, but I must say that the 18"s look really good in person and they wouldn't bother me at all--but I agree the 19s are a tad nicer, but not $5K worth.
I read somewhere that people with 19" E63 rims are swapping them for 18"s because of ride comfort, I don't know if this is BS or not, but you never know--post a thread swapping 18s for 19s, you never know--there's a sucker born every minute!

Congrats on the new ride!! It looks sharp in black.

For those thinking about moving from the standard 18s to the optional 19s, keep in mind that the offset on the 2010 E63 wheels is much different than that of the 2009 and prior E63s - so I don't think any of the AMG replica wheels currently out there would fit easily. . .

Just got back from a business trip, The car now has 800 miles and I'm so tempted to take it to the limited 155. Derrick thanks for taking pictures of my car! I also leased a black on black and will post pics today. I had a crazy thing happen to me the other day, I have some unneeded options such as distronic, and presafe braking. So anyone who is familiar I was on outerbridge crossing and was switching into the right lane with plenty of space even though I had the red triangle. As I switch lanes all of sudden my seatbelts tighten up and I hear a loud beep noise. I panicked pressed the break lightly and all of the a sudden the cars breaks lock! My brother was in the car with me and his seat moved foward and up and his seatbelts also tightened up. WIERD! I've turned off all those "safe options" and have not had this problem. I've also noticed with another "safety options", when I usto switch lanely smoothly on the freeway my steering wheel would vibrate three times. It made me go nuts, at first I thought something was wrong with the car. I turned off that option too.
