My Designo Cashmere (Matte White) E63
#51
Mercedes finally published some guidance and info.
As for the paint
-Matte is entirely in the Clearcoat
-More durable than traditional finishes
-Improper care can cause shiny or bright spots, these cannot be removed mechanically (e.g., by polishing)
-Blending and spot repairs generally result in unacceptable appearance, so Matte Clearcoat must be applied edge-to-edge on the affected panel(s).
As for washing
-Wash Magno Matte paint by hand only
-An automatic car wash can cause uneven shiny spots
-Use only a soft sponge or microfiber cloth
-Dry vehicle using a Chamois or microfiber cloth to avoid water spots
-Never use car wax, car polish or paint sealant
-Use care to keep oils and greases off the finish
-Use Silicone Remover for waxes, oils and greases
-Use VM&P Naptha to remove tree resins, fuel stains and other difficult soils
-A pressure washer can help remove stubborn soils
Precautions
-Never rub or scrub the paint surface
-Avoid Paint cleaners and harsh detergents
-Remove any contaminants immediately
-Use car to keep oils and greases off the finish
-Never use rubbing compound, claybar, sand paper or any abrasive items
I hope this helps. If you so decide on a Designo Matte paint, you will not be disappointed. I love walking up to the car at sunset as the paint absorbs rather than reflects light. It seems to take on an entirely different hue. Awesome stuff and well done by Mercedes!

This is very cool info, thanks for posting--I remember when you bought the car last year and I was curious how durable the finish would be.
Great to hear that it's holding up well and isn't a complete pain in the a$$ to maintain.

I'm about to pull the trigger on that same color. I'm moving out of my '11 W212 in Diamond White due to some unresolvable software bugs.
It's been four or so months since you posted on this topic. Is it still wearing well?
Did you debadge anything on it?

Paint is indistinguishable from new. Only changes are clear side markers and DFW DUDE'S AMG hood badge.
