Filters and Tune?
Hope it's ok to post this on this forum, there really isn't much discussion relating to performance on the W212 forum.
I'm planning to get a tune (E550) if Jeremy can make it up to the NorCal and I was wondering if it makes sense prior to the tune to replace the filter and pull the charcoals. The car is just a cruiser I won't be racing at the track but I would like a little more juice.
Assuming it's a good idea which filters do you guys like?

You can do either prior or after, his tunes are not filter specific. The filter gains if any will be negligible at best.
I pulled mine prior but his tunes dont have anything to do with charcoals being pulled or not.

i agree with vic. But keep in mind you should tune it in the same set up as you drive it. So if you plan on pulling the charcoals permanently, then go for it. if you're only planning on pulling it for he tune, then putting them back, then you're probably better off leaving them in.

If I remove the charcoals and replace the filters on my W212 E550 will I have to live with the CEL being on all the time or is there a work around?

You should not get a CEL from the charcoal removal...I have not and others here havent either. This is the case with or without a tune.

very possible. who knows why i continually get one. Even after Jeremy's tune I'm still getting it. But once I'm back on 93+ octane, everything fine again. I've tested it numerous times and it never fails to happen. It's amazing.
I'll be low on gas and be near a gas station, get 3/4 tank then drive. Before I have a chance to top off with 100 octane, i get a CEL. I can run on 93+ octane for months without a CEL if I put in the 100 octane first, then go get pump. :-)
