E63 Have a Dipstick?
The title of the thread may look peculiar, but BMW has "electronic dipsticks". In other words, new BMWs do not have what we all know as a regular dipstick for engine oil. I refuse to buy a car that has one of these digital, "approximate" POS. I do my own maintenance, and am quite **** retentive. The digital gauges on the BMWs, (and the one that is sure to be on the new M5) have been quite troublesome for owners, not to mention inaccurate. While I realize that forum members can only answer for the current engine (6.3L), I am hoping that the 2012 5.5 biturbo will be the same (in the event that the 6.3 has a good, old-fashioned dipstick to check the oil...) Thanks.

This is very good to hear. Hopefully MB continues the trend with the 2012 E63. BMW has divorced themselves of this accurate, yet simple tool. I won't go into the stories associated with the digital system to which I refer, but they are numerous, and unbelievable. Thanks for the quick reply.
