Hey,
So I changed my oil and decided to delete my charcoal filters as well.
I didn't find any DIY's so i just messed around and figured it out my self. I opened the air filter boxes and without fully removing them I pried out the top upper filter which i assume is the "charcoal filter"
I honestly have not felt any improvement or gains from this mod, high end power feels stronger but that may just be due to the fresh oil.
The only noticed difference is that the car switches gears harder and feels like the shifts are faster and harder (little stronger kick). Is that a common advance?
Will the dealer give me a hard time if they find these filters missing?

I don't understand this mod. Even if you got +20hp (which you don't - you probably don't even get +5hp) it wouldn't be worth the risk.
I would put them back, they are there for a reason.

I'll admit that I'm not familiar with the filter design, but if removing the charcoal filter causes the primary filter to fit loosely then obviously you run the risk of ingesting debris and damaging your engine over time.
Also I would question whether or not the charcoal filter was engineered to serve as a secondary filtration system for sub-micron particles when used in conjunction with the primary filter medium. As I understand it the Euro models do not have the charcoals, so if they are using the same primary filter then that would answer this question.
If you are convinced that it's safe then by all means go for it.

The charcoal filters are only there for US emission purposes. There is no risk to it. The car feels stronger in the top end because it's breathing more freely.

I have always felt this mod is negligible at best- in fact more of a placebo effect but I do it anyways. Why? Because it has no cost and no damage to the engine.
