pano roof or not
whats your opinions on it, do u guys like it/use it alot
isnt it just a huge chunk of glass as the roof that allows the back seat passengers to look at the sky? does it do anything else different
how much more weight does it add
i ask because alot of the 2010 e 63s im looking at , have it

Here are my thoughts for the pano:
-Looks great, especially on a silver or white car
-On the inside, I actually prefer the look of the non-pano
-I think it weights 250-300 pounds
-From the test results I have seen, pano cars are usually 2-3 tenths of a second slower to 60. Of course, test results depend on a bunch of items but that is what I have seen and for the weight it adds, it makes sense.
I had the pano on my 2005 E55. I went without it on my 2010 E63 and I do not regret that decision

i think i shall fall in that boat too, now i just need to find the car
i would assume for roll over safety, tho rare but possible, pano would not be the best idea

No pano for me, personally I would get a car without a sunroof if it were up to me. In the year and a half with my car I've opened it twice, once when I first got it to see if it works and once a few months ago to make sure it still works.
On a black car you don't notice it too much, I must admit it looks good on a white or silver car though
A carbon fiber roof option like the M3 would be nice!

Agree with some of the others here. I barely use the sunroof. Weight and potential creaks are other negatives. No pano for me. Rear Passengers in an AMG should be staring straight ahead, fearful for their lives, rather than staring aimlessly at the sky

i love my pano roof - i too have a 2 year old passenger who loves it (usually he just says "FAST DADDY FAST" - and i just really like the look of it and functionality - i use mine daily - when i upgrade to the next E63 it will be a must - and when people get in the car they usually say that is cool - you don't see that much on bmw/audi - but it is all personal pref.

My daughter who is almost 5 is always looking up through the pano from the backseat.
Unfortunately she's always telling me to slow down all the time and not "FAST DADDY FAST" like baldmike73.
Think the AMG is fast enough that the .2-.3 seconds you might lose on the 0-60 because of the added weight will not be a noticeable difference unless you're a racer and tracking your car.

tru that, i suppose if i get a deal ill just have to go with whatever options
i kinda do want the PP because of the wheels and steering,
the suspension isnt a big deal, because with so many settings regardless, it wont matter
i suppose if i need those extra milleseconds, i can always get a tune, long tube headers, add a turbosuperchagerNOS kit

I actually dont like the way pano looks on the inside. On the outside looks great but inside it takes up a lot of the alcentra headliner that would otherwise be there.
On the outside looks great, no doubt (with a silver or white car).
I also do not like the way it looks when it is open from the outside. It basically slides a big a** piece of glass on top of another piece of glass. I dont like that look. But when it is closed, looks great on the outside.

I recommend. On my 2nd Pano and I enjoy in the inside to out view and vice a versa especially on my white car.
Further... our cars are not really track cars- nor does an extra 150 to 200 lbs bother me. They are luxo sedans with performance as an add on. The pano fits under the luxury part under form and not function IMHO.

Can't go wrong either way. Get what you like and be happy! You'll love the car either way.

I have the Pano in my W211, my 3 years old daughter love it. Every time she ride in my car, i have to open it. The only downside is worry about when it go bad. I remember few years ago there is a discussion about the Pano on W211 that they weight 80Lbs.

Its true that there is a small additional sunroof for the back passengers with the pano roof, but I dont think this materially changes the roll over safety of the car. Bottom line: I dont think there is a safety difference betwen the two options.

I made this same incorrect assumption...In my 2012 E63 review posting (too late to edit), I mentioned how the glass of a pano roof was probably less safe in a roll over than steel. I did not remember that it is actually glass, not steel, that is over the driver's head opening with BOTH options. Though I have not measured it, I am pretty sure the opening over the driver is the same size.

My 2yo loves the pano in the back. Looks up and says "airplane" and "moon". Game i play with him, where is the airplane/moon. Plus its cool to have people who sit in the back go "wow, you have a double sun roof".

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
I'm one of the few who prefer to not have any kind of sunroof to keep things simple so I wouldn't have to deal with creaking, ,squeaking, leaking, not closing, etc. Mostly, I prefer not to have glass over my head and I appreciate a slightly lower center of gravity. If there is a delete option, I would check it. But this is just me.

I also realized the fact that with both options, you have a glass roof over your head. Still, I would think and assume that the non Pano should logically a little safer, a little stiffer, etc. For example, I'd imagine that the torsional rigidity figure of the non Pano should be better than the Pano. My 2011 without Pano felt noticeably and slightly "tighter" than my 2010 did with Pano. However, I'm more than sure that M-B's R&D efforts ensure that the Pano isn't "unsafe", and should be at least very close to the steel roof. I don't think there are any facts regarding this, that they've released, so it really comes down to which you feel more comfortable/safe inside.
